Mid-Atlantic Basenji Club Christmas Party

Basenji Meetups & Events
  • Hello all– just wanted to see who all was going to this!! We're so excited and hope to see you guys there!

    Some questions we have:
    1. Is there a place to heat your covered dish?
    2. How many people should we bring for?
    3. Do we need to bring a crate for the dogs during the meal? How does that work?
    4. Does the gift exchange need to be wrapped or do we just bring as is?

    Happy Holidays to all! :)

  • When is it?

    Where is it?

  • Sunday, Dec 9th
Carroll County Agriculture Center, Westminster, Maryland

Hi BDawg…I've been to the summer pot luck so maybe I can help answer some of your ??? :)

1-If you can bring your dish in an aluminum dish then you can use those gel sterns to keep it warm. I did this the last time & it worked well.

2-I think about 20-25 would be fine since there will be lots of other dishes as well...everyone brings such YUMMY food & there's plenty to go around :)

3-Bringing your crate is a good idea...some Bs are not big on the off leash socialzing ;) ;) so this would be a safe place for your Bs while you enjoy the eats.

4-not sure about this one???...maybe u could send an email to LeeBeth the MABC prez.

We won't be able to make it this time :( We're all so sad about this...we have a family Baptism to go to...grumble grumble.

  • Looks like fun! Glad you all enjoyed the season festivities - with all the little fur kids of course. Very nice photos - thanks for sharing.

It sure would be wonderful to get-away sometime. Don't know when or how, but it would be great. Anyone sensing my envy? :o

  • Great pics! I especially love the one of Miles… bored, of course. ;) I told you he's always over everything!

  • Great pictures. I would love to see how my boys would do with other B's. I would especially like to know if the Tri Wyatt in the pictures is as silly as my Tri Wyatt?

  • Two tri's named Wyatt?! How cute!!

  • The gang in the picture "Basenji and rescue friends" where certainly entertaining but at the same time sad. One of the club members works for a Vet. Puppy mills bring in dogs for various reasons and sometimes after the Vet care is completed the Puppy mills figure they have too large of a bill and just don't come back to pick them up. This lady takes them in and she keeps them with her Basenji's.

The Pug had both legs broken, and currently cannot use it's front legs, but somehow get's around…....it's a touch sad to watch. The little Chi wha wha, had a broken leg and was in a cast. Hopefully it will heal correctly and it can walk without problem.....they just don't know.

Good to know there's folks that have a kind heart and are willing to take in such sad cases that no one else wants.

My son and I couldn't help looking at them in there and comparing them to the toys on the Isle of misfit toys from the Christmas cartoon. They really where cute with they're basenji foster mom.

@DebraDownSouth: Oh Pat, for crying out loud, cause I obviously need a combination of more sleep and caffeine I saw UK and thought United Kingdom. My daughter says I don't have to look for a nursing home, they're looking for me some days. :) I'd delete my post but it's pretty funny so I won't. LOL Debra…. take the caffeine! It is pretty funny!!!!!

We're thinking about having another lure coursing fundraiser in November. It was so much fun this last time. Here is the photo album from the photographer. Lots of different breeds of dogs. http://www.allcreaturesphoto.com/GroupOrg-Events/BCOSW And just to toot my own horn, here is a pic or two of my dogs from the album. Zoni - she's a natural, can't wait to run her for real. She has laser focus on the lure. http://www.allcreaturesphoto.com/GroupOrg-Events/BCOSW/BCSOW-Fundraiser-May-15-2010/BCOSWFundRaiser201005150858/875537175_bhDBE-S.jpg Nemo - can't believe he actually coursed. He's a bit of a goof (and looks like a kangaroo in the pic :) ). I was more thrilled to watch him run than Zoni. He zoned out the second time to sniff some flowers and didn't complete the course. :D http://www.allcreaturesphoto.com/GroupOrg-Events/BCOSW/BCSOW-Fundraiser-May-15-2010/BCOSWFundRaiser201005150856/875536788_UsTCt-L.jpg
