Have you contacted vet offices and low cost neuter/spay clinics? Since he is intact and someone may be keeping him, the finder may go and have him neutered.

Hello Basenji Forum Friends,
Does anyone have any tips on finding a lost dog? My now new friend Paul lost his 10 month old pup (not a basenji but a dingo mix with similar traits- likes to bolt etc.) he slipped out of his harness. More info here, https://www.pawboost.com/landing/pet/X_dA3LT_KTQ_CQxN0ib3SgyCXnORaYz5/lost-dude-cupertino-ca-95014
I thought what would I do and reached out to help and have been posting flyers everywhere. Does anyone have any tips on finding a lost dog? Or how to hire a reputable dog tracker in the Bay Area? Thank you! Paul is a researcher at Genentech and also a pilot for Pilots & Paws that provides free flights to rescue dogs that have a new home! Thank you!
I believe there are some Facebook groups dedicated to finding lost pets. Worth checking out.
I see you’re in the Bay Area and I’m downtown San Jose. I see lost and reunited pets on the local neighborhood Facebook groups and the Next Door app all the time.
@triggers-dad I'm just down the road from you... Great suggestions. I'll keep an eye out here in South County. That dog is incredibly distinctive. Almost looks like an African Wild Dog, but the ears are too small. The owner might also contact as many Veterinarians in the area as possible. Next would be groomers, pet supply shops and shelters. Might also post up on SFBay Craigslist in the Pet sections of Community, Discussion Forums, and For Sale. I see Lost Pet ads in those sections.
What an absolutely adorable dog!!! I hope and pray for his safe, healthy and quick return. I don't like Facebook, but it is definitely the best place to start.
I hope he was microchipped.
Thank you for the reply!

@jengosmonkey Thank you for the reply!
@pawla Thank you for the reply!
@pawla yes! he was micro chipped! I even found out that there is microchip you can activate to actually track the dog too so need to learn more...
Hello to all, thank you for the suggestions and responses. Sadly, yesterday the pup Dude was hit by car and did not survive. I can't imagine the pain the owner is going through right now. I learned a lot on how to find a lost dog from dog expert Susan Packer from the Bay Area and will share more soon. Sadly, he was not found in time despite the owner camping out in their car for over a week at the last locations he was spotted. I replied to help and learned so much about how kind people can be-- just like this group so willing to help! Cheers, Dude lives on with lasting memories of his short life! )
