  • Greetings from Houston, I haven't posted in 7 years, Ive been busy with my 3 basenjis 1 Tibetan spaniel, one snake , one fish. weddings , publishing my Natural Awakenings magazine and just living.
My hubby finally got out hugh back yark secured, 6 foot fences not chain, they climbed up on those. The boys never like it indoors, so we have a giant dog house with a heater, fill it with hay, and they are happy campers.

@jengosmonkey I'm thinking that it's gonna take time, like a year or two from the time one starts training...

Hello to everyone...Thank you for your great comments about Mr Biggles, we also think he is very special. We live in South Australia, and it is very interesting to see all the beautiful dogs being shown off in this forum. Mr Biggles was aptly named due to being a biglet as a pup. If anything that belonged to us was in his reach it was certainly not worth while worrying about after he had finished with it..only pieces left, if he didn't want them, we learnt very quickly to ensure everything precious to us, other than him:face_with_tears_of_joy: was well out of his reach. He certainly was a handful the first couple of years, I always refer to that time as like having a set of twin 2year olds, on red cordial. I found that being very very constant with him worked well. He is a very structured guy, and has been very easy to train once we got through to the end of the tunnel . You certainly do need a sense of humour, would not own any other breed, the antics our guy gets up to continues to be entertaining...he certainly gives us a great deal of happiness. I hope everyone enjoys their Basenji as much as we do.:face_blowing_a_kiss:

Just wondering if he barks or does he make basenji noises? I have to agree he looks more terrier than basenji though.

It was nice seeing you too Lisa…I'll see you that first weekend in July...Z & I are coming up for the LGRA and to hopefully get her qualified in NOTRA. I'm really glad I found something to do with her that she really enjoys! Kathy...I did know all that..but thanks for explaining it again. I beg to differ about the stress level at a show and do believe they're wrong....but that's their rules and I have agreed to live by them. I'll eventually get another dog and try again if I decide to not have her re-instated. Lucky for me, I can race with Zuni, do agility or Rally-O and Obedience with other organizations. Heck, I could even show her spayed with UKC if I get her reconditioned on the table. So, life without the AKC in this instance isn't the end of the world. Thanks about the avatar...that's my two oldest. Debra....shame about the rottie, you do have to wonder what goes on in their heads sometimes! HAHAHA...love the toy story!!! How funny that must have been to see him coming back in to the moved toys!! And the chewing gum...now that is something! Hi Moth, nice to meet you!
