Hi everyone!

Yesterday I got the honor of adopting this little beautiful boy from a local animal shelter. They really weren't sure what he was exactly breed-wise but people kept throwing breeds at me that they guessed he was and I was looking them up online. One of the ones that really struck me as similar to him (especially because of the wrinkles on his forehead and his extremely quiet nature) was the Basenji. So I decided to look up a Basenji forum because you guys are obviously the experts on the breed

What do you guys think? Is Rocko part Basenji?

Looks like he did wonderful! In Loki's puppy class we did the same exercise, with the peanut, regular exercise balls, and barrels placed on their side and with something underneath while upright to make it wobbly. One of the pics I posted of Loki months ago is of him on the peanut. A regular exercise ball is more challenging as you first need to make sure you have a good hold on it and then gradually loosen your hold so it wobbles however much the dog can handle at the time. And of course it is far more unstable than the peanut.

I haven't ordered the peanut yet, but now that you are talking about the regular exercise ball, I might go for that instead, because I can use it to stretch out my lower back.

There is no fanconi test outside USA.. just on Europe and by mail from USA.

The fanconi test is by mail EVERYWHERE. It isn't done in a vet clinic. We go online and order it, so ANYONE ANYWHERE can order it.
It is easily done even in remote places.
It might take a while to get the cheek swab in the mail, but doing this will save heartache later.

I might be inclined to believe foxhound if he didn't weigh less than 40 lbs. That And neither a lab or a foxhound have a tail that goes straight up and curls over the back.

Whippet is a possibility, but again that doesn't explain the tail curling over the back. Granted his tail is longer and not as bushy as a pure Basenj, but then he isn't pure Basenji.

Pugs have a wrinkled forehead and a curled tail, but he has the longer neck and a gait more like a sight hound, and his coat is shorter but not the double coat of a lab, so I am kind of ruling out pug.

He may be a big pile of mixes from parents who were mixed. I don't really care what breed he is, he is a great dog. I think I am right on basenji, but if not, it's no big deal. And no he hasn't chewed my underwear. He did chew on the couch cushion where I usually sit.
