Update on the Girls

  • Hello :)

I havent posted an update on my two on here in a few months (im sure a lot of you have seen them on FB), but thought i would stop by and share some photos. Not much happening in the show ring at the moment, we're having our annual time off where the dogs all have a month or so completely out of the show ring. Its giving me plenty of time to play with Ava the foal anyway!!

Maya is a fat little piggie at the moment so will have to get her into shape before the summer shows!! Not sure she would be so enthusiastic about that idea…

    Crufts

This is the end of the day on the Discover Dogs stand at Crufts where the girls had a lovely day meeting and greeting many, many Crufts visitors whilst representing the breed on the Basenji Stand

And Alice, she is still a deliquent child…

A recent show-y one but waaaayyyyy overstretched!

  • Great pics! When I was insuring Leki yesterday, the lady from Petplan was giving me her details in case of queries and was a bit put off when I said in delight "Maya? Ooh, I know a Basenji called Maya!"

  • LOL was Maya out of the blue or you mean it was the lady's name too?

Lovely pictures. What kind of bird is that in the yard, it looks HUGE.

  • It was the lady's name, and I don't she was too impressed…

  • @QuizBasenji:

It was the lady's name, and I don't she was too impressed…

She should have been honored - wouldn't it be lovely if ladies could get away with the superior attitude female B's flaunt!

  • LOLOL, Many years ago when science fiction cons were small and intimate, I went to one where Denise Crosby (Tasha Yar from Star Trek Next Generation, and granddaughter of Bing Crosby) was. During her talk she said people would come up to her and say they named their dog after her and she often didn't know whether to be insulted or honored. So afterwards in the coffee and chat room I went up to her and said "I named my dog after Tasha" and pulled out a picture of my Rottweiler. Her face lit up and she said THAT'S a dog she wanted named for her.

  • thanks for the update - such beautiful trying girls

  • Lovely pictures, Jess

  • She kind of looks like Mia (4months old)

@elbrant That kind of sums it up, I figured a mixture of “why are you doing that” and “I’m about to do something very mischievous” lol.

@McCannClan: What an adorable girl! I love those wrinkles and she actually poses for you. I cannot get my new girl to sit still long enough for that… I think Faro is a bad influence on her. Your Athena is beautiful. Hoping you have many fun filled loving days with her. Thank you! It amazes me. She always sits still or stops moving when I'm pointing my camera/phone at her. It's like she knows. Every day since I got her has been fun! @DebraDownSouth: What a cutie! In a couple, it shows the white of one eye and I was going to ask if she has a "lazy eye", but then I looked back at the baby ones… nope, just your camera angle and her looking at you a bit from side. Cara has an absolute lazy eye, btw.. so you know why I was looking! I envy you that cute baby stage. OMG wouldn't it be wonderful if you could keep them like that. Give that wrinkly face a kiss for me. Sigh. Thank you! At times it does look like she has a slight lazy eye but mostly it's the camera angle and the way her head is. Don't worry, I give her many hugs & kisses everyday! this is my favorite picture I've taken thus far. [image: IMG00470-20110329-2131.jpg]

@AJs: I have been placed several times into the position of having something that was illegal simply because while I had acquired an object legally, a law was subsequently passed making that object a crime to own. I believe in 4th Amendment guarantee to security in my property, house, person and effects from unreasonable search and seizure as well as 5th Amendment protection against deprivation of life, liberty and property without due process. If what I own does not injure anyone else and I acquired it legally, I don't believe it is anyone's business what I have. Further, I believe that simply passing a law against something because the majority of people voting on it don't like it does not constitute due process, especially if I previously acquired that item legally. Sheesh! When are people in this country going to learn to mind their own business! Well said, AJs Human! Especially when it comes to simple things like owning animals that are not dangerous, not endangered, do not hurt anyone, do not make noise to irritate the neighbors, etc! If it's a tiger or an elephant, I'd understand… but a pygmy hedgehog or a fish? And if I can drive to another state to legally buy it and I keep it on my own personal property and take good care of it, why should anyone care? Cheers to you!!
