Y'know, the one where a B does all those tricky dance moves? The only link I can find ("Dog Reflection") seems blank & doesn't work for me…

P.S. Any truth to the rumour that the dog in the video is really a border collie wearing a basenji costume, lol?

Thanks everyone for your advice.

I know my basenji understands and he does listen to me but he has selective hearing. We are traning on it and he is getting better each day.

It's difficult to comment with advice on separation issues when you have no idea of her background. It seems to me that something has happened to her in a house when she was alone in the past as you say Loki is quite content to stay in a vehicle.

Having the other dog (very handsome) may help but you are wise to check that out first - the worst scenario - you could have 2 dogs screaming! Sorry to be flippant.

I would agree with Moth about the possible need for a behaviorist.

My Lola will smell something that is WAY too interesting for me (i.e. old doggie stuff in the grass), but for her magical moment, that smell is GOLD! BAMM! STOP THE PRESSES! HUNKER DOWN, Momma, cuz I am not moving!!!!

So, I wait, as patiently as I can, until Lola realizes that it's just a turd… no magic... well, unless I have to go to the bathroom and I need her to hurry… well, then I trick her and flick her leash, saying, "Lola! What is that? Get it!!!!!" 🙂

I saw a thread in Books (I think) called Basenji Owner's Manual that some of the members are saying is pretty good. Keep in mind that Lilu is part Shepherd too. She may end up with some behavioral traits of that breed as well.

Surf the puppy sections too…lots of great information there.:)
