Yup, nothing fun happens until everybody's peed. Today she saw the old man go out on HER walk hour and was DISPLEASED. I agreed with her that it sure would be fun to go for a romp!
I'm glad we're not the only dweebs who sing to our dogs. We've taken to improvising a life soundtrack to the tune of "Springtime for Hitler" that usually starts "____-time for Basenjis, ______". The past couple days it's been "Pottytime for basenjis, come on, go pee!" 😃

I think incorporating some crate training if none is being used will help. If you take him outside and he does not go potty, when you bring him back in, he must go in crate for about twenty minutes or so and not be allowed to roam or play. Then outside again to potty spot. If he does not go again repeat in crate for twenty minutes then out to potty spot and naturally praise like crazy when he does go. The idea is to get him to go potty when you want and where you want. I felt using the crate was extremely beneficial.

Thanks, lvoss and Agile! I'm traveling for work right now, so I'll take a good look at all the references this weekend (work computer is blocking some of the sites for some odd reason). The RP is mentioned in CU but she gives a shortcut method which is basically what you described as the pre-RP steps. I'm very interested in seeing how this will all work out.

Thanks for the ideas! I had forgotten the collar training totally - as well as walking in leash nicely. Fortunately I have some training collars at home, before my order of measure made sighthound leather collars will arrive (at age of 8 weeks).

We have now -20 Celsius and 1 meter snow in South-Finland, so it is impossible to start potty training in the garden 😉

More ideas are welcome!

Have you tried to contact anyone in the Tucson Kennel Club?

They don't have much of a website, but do have email addys for the President and Secretary. There are likely other kennel clubs in the area also
