Here is the post. I'm not sure if anyone from BRAT could help facilitate a foster, but thought I'd spread the word:

Seeking immediate temporary home for my dog (Saint John, IN)

I am seeking an immediate temporary to a good home for my 2 1/2 year old female Basenji dog. Preferably in Northwest Indiana. I am living with my parents at the time in Saint John, IN, about an hour away from Chicago, and she cannot stay here, only because they do not want a dog in the house. I am currently working and saving money to get an apartment where I could keep her. She is approximately 42 lbs, recently updated on all her shots, and gets along well with other dogs, especially ones around her size. Please let me know if you could help, know someone who would be able to help, or have any other questions. Thank you.

  • She's very cute, but probably a mix if she really is 42 pounds! Hope she finds that temp home soon!

Advertised as an African dog! Owners did not know what type of dog they were buying. This is near Amish country-only 25 miles away from Lancaster and I wonder if they bought her from a local breeder. Has anyone contacted them to find out any additional information like registration, breeder, etc.? Jennifer

I noticed that too. I just thought that maybe it was someone that offered to post the ad for the owner.

@lisatest: What do you all think about getting a dog micro chipped? Last night I caved and let her sleep in her bed on our bed. Amazingly no whining. I believe Mia won on this battle. :) She is very precious and she puts a smile on my face every single day. I got my boy microchipped when he was neutered. It didn't cost much extra & I like the extra sense of security I have now. Although, as Tanza said, they do wander. Dallas' started out on his shoulder blade & now is more in his front thigh. If that makes sense. The vet said it is not an issue now but if it keeps moving towards his chest, she will have to remove it & replace it in a better spot. However, it is still completely worth it. Welcome to basenji ownership 101. They are so darn persistant when they want something. Dallas sleeps in my bed & is quite the bed hog! Also, he must sleep under the covers now! Once you give in, there is no going back. Haha. So glad it worked out so well for you & that she makes you so happy. I look forward to seeing more pictures of her!

If you can get the full pedigree information, you might want to contact Sally Wallis who maintains the pedigree website. In her personal database she does collect breeder information when available. So she may have at least the names of the breeders and may be able to give them to you.
