• Chisty is going to keep Sid.

  • I am pleased to let everyone know that I did decide to place Sid with the lady from GA. They came and picked him up yesterday afternoon and I am eager to hear of the results in a week or so. In case you all were wondering, she has 3 other basenjis, lives on several acres of land and just recently lost Sid's grandmother. I am happy with my decision and if for any reason he does not work out in their home I will take him back gladly. Wish him the best of luck!! The poor guy has been through a lot 🙂

  • Hope that it becomes his forever home…. and I am sure you did what was best for Sid and yourself. Fingers crossed that it all works out! Good to know that it is a Basenji savy home with links to Sid's pedigree family.

  • They drove all the way from Georgia to get him, I live in South Florida. If that is not commitment then I don't know what is. They know every bit of his history and assure me that he will never be put to sleep and are very convinced that they will have him forever, which gratifies me to the fullest extent 🙂

  • Christy I know you really struggled with this decision. I hope that everything works out great with Sid and the people from GA - it sounds like they are a great fit.

I am really happy to hear this Christy! Gale emailed me and told me about what a great home this will be for Sid…and I think it will be a great match. Keep us updated...and good luck with everything 🙂

  • Glad that they wanted him. Wishing very strongly it works out for everyone!

I hope that it works out well for Sid and for you.

  • Debbi J I am so glad that this happened. Do keep us informed.

  • Big baroos to you, Christy, for staying by Sid's side until the right home was ready… I know this wasn't easy for you, but THANK YOU for keeping Sid's interests at heart. 🙂

  • I hope Sid "lives happily ever after" in his new pack. Obviously you want only the best for him, and you are willing to take him back and continue to give him the best life you can if it doesn't work out. Seems like a great deal all around, good job, Christy!

  • I know this is an extremely old thread, but it kind of made me cry. I do remember the home in Georgia where Sid ended up was a home that I might even call the best home he ever had.
His owner has written to me over the years (oh, forgot to say I was the person who was in a car accident and had to rehome him.) and I've tried and tried, but cannot find her email, and don't remember her name!
I was just thinking of her when I saw on tv that IRMA is now moving up to GA, not a hurricane anymore, and I wanted to let her know I was thinking of her, and praying for her safety. I never received an email that Sid had died, and I really think I would have, so assume he is still alive. My girl that had the same sire lived to be 16, and since he was younger, it's possible.

So if anyone out there keeps in touch with her, please send on my prayers for their safety.

After reading this, ANYONE down that way, please please know up here I feel kind of helpless. There are various places that are collecting things, monetary and otherwise, so doing what we can.
I was happy to hear the folks in Florida (and Texas) are reacting the way I would, trying to take care of each other.

Like I said, I know how very old this thread is, so if no one reads this that won't surprise me

  • I have no idea where the dog went to, but maybe someone on here does. I heard about your car accident long after and am just glad you are okay. (( hugs ))
