What interesting fronts your racing boxes have. Around here, the top part of the boxes are solid so the dogs stay low for the break. I am not sure if these links will work but here is a pic of the typical boxes used here.

This is an official race track, also for international (FCI) matches.. so I think they conform to the rules over here

Wow! Very cool!

Tillo is so clever, and such a beautiful boy - you must be very proud of him - as he is of himself, easy to see!
-
Great pictures, you can see how much he loves it.
I would be afraid to do it with ours though as we have Cats and i think it would trigger the prey instinct even more than it already is ? -
That looks fantastic - any UK people do lure coursing? I'm sure Butu would love it…
-
What a great pictures Janneke!!!
We have to come along once to race with you!

I would be afraid to do it with ours though as we have Cats and i think it would trigger the prey instinct even more than it already is ?If a cat runs off.. Tillo will chase it anyway.. but if a cat just lays down or walks slowly, he won't do anything. Well.. maybe hope and pray for it to run off So.. In Tillo's case.. I don't think it effects it. I often feel like it gives some sort of outlet for the need to run and chase, making it a little bit less likely to keep running off when I'm walking in the park.. But I don't know if that's really true
Kim, I would love it if you would join us sometime! It's great fun!

It is interesting to see the differences in the sport in different areas. I think the tops are kept solid here because it keeps the dogs low in the boxes when they focus on the lure. The dogs that stay very low an focused are usually the fast on the break from what I have seen. In the oval especially, the break can be the make it or break it for the dog to get and hold the rail position which can be the difference between winning or losing for some races.
Watching the races is so much fun. There is so much that goes into a good race dog. They are really amazing.
