I'll just add this in case the testing doesnt give you answers. Anorexia exits. Although nearly ALL cases of dogs who do not want food has an underlying medical cause. But some dogs simply have anorexia. There are drugs that work very good for it..At one point they stopped making one type so we had so we had to switch. They increased Sayblees aggression. So from then on i handfed her. https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/anorexia-in-dogs

@JENGOSMonkey, @elbrant, @tanza, @Kembe, @eeeefarm, @helle-devi Thank you all for the kind words, it has not been easy but this does help. We actually got his ashes back today and the place did a fantastic job, came back with ceramic paw print and all. It will last bring final closure, he is home. @helle-devi results confirmed what was suspected, IBD, for which we had already started his medications. I think it was just his time.

Also - does anyone else's Basenji drink in threes? When Cody drinks he goes "lap, lap, lap, pause, Lap, lap, lap". For some reason this just cracks me up. Maybe because he's so consistent. Or maybe I need to get our more! LOL!

My B's do this sometime as well. Miles will eat grass when he has an upset stomach, however Akeyla will just eat it and it's no big deal. I haven't had a major problem with it. Sorry that's all I got :)

@wizard: Just a heads up for folks living near urban ponds and lakes. This time of the year, hot weather and lowering lake levels often leads to algae blooms, particularly when the lakes are bordered by fertilized lawns. Most algae are the green type but some are called blue-green and have a bluish tint to them. If your dog drinks from urban lakes or ponds, be aware that some blue-green algae are toxic to dogs. Great reminder. Seems every year around here there is at least one dog lost to algae in local lakes. Awful way to lose a dog.
