So you think it will be okay to let her use the puppy pads again. Will she ever not need to pee on the puppy pads?
I do play with her in the morning and at night and My boy does some so I guess she will be fine - I was just worried becuase she does not seem to want to get potty trained.
What does Pat Fragassi mean about (betty) not being good breeder do you think I have a bad dog?????? she left a message on here to Tanza is the screen name?

In my opinion this is not a responsible breeder (except for the fact that she would take the pup back). First of all she doesn't do health testing for anything before breeding. All dogs being bred need to be DNA tested for Fanconi (please learn about Basenji health concerns including Fanconi at www.basenjihealth.org). And her comment about she doesn't need to test because she has had the same bloodlines for 17+ yrs is even more reason that she needed to test for Fanconi.
Also, if you are interested you can learn about how to find or look for a responsible breeder at the Basenji Club of America Site and their recommendations for finding a responsible breeder. http://www.basenji.org/learn/ScreeningBreeders.htm
So, you should have your Basenji tested asap for Fanconi for your own peace of mind. Details on testing can be found on the same site as above. It is a cheek swab that you do yourself and send in.
I would like to make one other point and that is regarding "selling" the pup again. Honestly, even a responsible breeder would most likely "re-sell" the pup. They would not just give it away, not even BRAT gives dogs away…. they all cost something... Biggest difference is with a responsible breeder and considering you had not had your pup long, a responsible breeder would have most likely refunded some or all of your money.... (I have no idea if this breeder would have done that)

Have you had Koda checked for a UTI? This is also a common cause for inappropriate peeing.
-
If Koda does not have a UTI and is only urinating in her crate then it may not be a housetraining issue. This may be a crate anxiety issue or separation anxiety issue and you will need to be able to commit some time to re-training.
Here is a good article about teaching crate training. http://askdryin.com/movies/CrateDogLR.pdf

No you do not have a bad Puppy just there are tests you can do because reeder did not do her job correctly. Your puppy is part of your family and you have a good puppy you love it and care for it. A bad puppy or dog is because of people (humans) we do not do our job.

oh I see - Yes she is a good puppy - thanks for all your help. I am going to talk to my boy and make sure she plays more with her - he told me last night that YOU CAN't GET rid of family mom and he is right cuz that is what I have also told him. So we will do our best to make sure she gets more play time.

thanks for your help and no she was not going to refund the Money. I just don't trust her now. I am going to keep her or find someone on my own to take her and care for her the correct way. I think she is happy - she just does not get to run much and she loves to run and play. Thanks again for your help.

You really need to look into Fanconi testing, it is very important for your peace of mind. Also learning about Basenji health concerns.
And if the need comes up that you do need to place her, contact Basenji Rescue (BRAT).. that is what they do….
-
I second Pat on Fanconi Testing.
I also second Pat please call (BRAT) if you just have to give her up.
I do not always agree or like what Pat has to say but in this case I more than agree.

Pat and Rita Jean are right, BRAT does do a wonderfuf job finding forever homes for b's who need it.
-
I have emailed and am talking with LIZ from BRAT she is going to find the right home. I am going to miss her - but I know it's best to give her to someone with more time. She DESRIVES that much. She a great girl and i love her so much, but I know she will be better off with someone who can not only give her exercise but also enough to keep her mind busy and happy since they are so smart. they need more then most puppies.
thanks for everyones help.

Although I know this was a very difficult decision, I sooo respect you for doing the right thing for your dog. Virtual hugs to you:).
-
I feel for you, making that decision was not easy, but you can rest assured she will find a family that will care for her just as much as you do.
