  • Welcome, Salis!

My real name is Daria, I am actually originally from Moscow, too. Didn't know there were basenjis there. I've been in USA for over 10 years now. Oh, and your english is just fine.

  • Hello Salis,

welcome to the Forum! I have a Basenji-girl from Moscow. Kennel Lis Glamur. Her Mother is also from Kennel Marlen Brao.

    Many greetings from Denmark

  • Hello and welcome to the forum!! Thanks for sharing that cute pic! Your pup is adorable! :)

  • So interesting!
I met Irina Ososkova from Lis Glamur at the dog show. How did you bring your dog from Russia? Did you visit Moscow?

  • That's wonderful!
I'm not from Moscow, but I live in the town Voronezh. And there were only a few basenjis in Russia more than 10 years ago. In our town there are only 4 basenjis now, my puppy is the 5th.

As the Father of my Russian Girl Panda is a relative of my own Male Jester, I knew the breeder already by eMail. So when I saw Panda's pictures I knew I had to have her in my pack. My Boyfriend flew to Moscow to pick her up there as I do not have a international valid passport (I have to get that done). He stayed there with the owners of Panda's mother Margo and then took a flight back to Kopenhagen with her. No big deal!

    Regards,

    Esther

@Nancy-Berry The saying is a very true one... when people ask how your dogs are with children, say "It depends.. how are your children with dogs?" Toddler Leora got her little legs smacked more over the dogs than anything. Not training your child to respect dogs, to understand that a hurt dog can and probably will respond, ... well it puts your child and dogs in danger.

What a sweet face! Thank you for taking her in, she needs a forever home. As Pat indicated, unless you have info on the parents being clear, or at least one clear, she should be tested for Fanconi asap.

A tired Basenji?!!! Joking apart, I agree with the previous posts. It is really important that she doesn't get something for nothing as Wizard advises make her work for it. Welcome to the Forum to you,Teagan and the others.

Thanks, I will pickup some SAM-E at the store today, I had no idea what dose! I hope Pete has a comfortable time with you, you are doing everything to keep him happy. My friend's mastif-dobie mix has very high liver enzymes, she is 10 and otherwise looks great. She is slowing down, sleeps a lot but has good appetite, etc., he opted for no more tests (at her age, he would not put her through any treatments other than meds). She loved the liver-cleansing diet, is back on regular now and taking Sam-e; like you, he is just hoping for some good quality time with an older beloved dog. Hugs to Pete!

Luzambo, I too had one pass last March. After that I was left with one and said once he passed, I was going to be done with dogs – too much of work and emotional strain. Yep, I was going to be free to... well, to do something. Then I found a little girl related to Brie just 2 weeks later and 6 months later I have yet another. Yes, they're a lot of work at times, but so is most everything in life. I love having them around and the house would be often boring otherwise. I'm sure Pharaoh and my Brie are hanging out in their private club looking down on us saying "what are you guys doing down there?" And with a signature like yours, I don't think you'll be waiting long. Welcome to the forum!
