RE: Possible Basenji Mix Mom
That would be awesome! Ohio wouldn't be bad either. My parents actually have a house in Ohio in Chillicothe, and I have cousins in Columbus, and my husband has family in Columbus, Coshocton, Cincinnati, and Tiffin, so a lure coursing trip could be linked up to a family visit almost anywhere in Ohio.:)
I need to work with Katie on the cheating. Since the only place we run is Lure Coursing Fanatics, she is getting the hang of the course and cheating like crazy.
I definitely want to get her running on different courses so we can start to convince her not to cheat.
We are also starting training Katie for her CGC. She is finally getting over her PTSD, and getting more comfortable around people to the point that I think we are ready to start training. When the lure is around, she is totally happy, and couldn't care less about people or other dogs unless she thinks they might let her get the bunny. Getting her around new people and new dogs, and having good experiences with them would be very helpful.
Thanks,
Nicole and Rob
Katie, Petey and the catsI have thought about doing courses like that with Kylie because she LOVES to run and shes a fast lil thing…keeps low to the ground and around other dogs she leaves em in the dust. then again shes never played with abother basenji! I bet shed have a blast!

RE: Hi!
Pretty girl, where did you get her?
I got her from the ASPCA…My husband looked around online to see what breed he might be interested in and basenji came up and he found her on a local search for pets. We were a bit skeptical, as were the people at the ASPCA, about her being around our young son. But we took a chance and just watched her very closely when he was around. And she is so great with kids, she loves them sooooo much, and not even just ours but when she hears kids' voices she perks up and immediately wags her tail! She really is the best dog ive ever had, though she can be a trouble maker lol

RE: Hi!
She is very pretty! My basenjis get along with most other dogs, but really get annoyed if another dog barks at them…so maybe that is a basenji thing. She may be fine with quiet, respectful dogs.
Yeah thats how she is….as long as the dog stays cool...then shes fine too! Shes not necessary aggressive, just VERY protective

RE: Hi!
Welcome, I live in Wa. Silverdale. Where are you located?
There is a very active basenji club in Seattle and they have some wonderful lure couring set up for b's to run. I would be happy to share that info with you.oh wow I had no idea that Seattle had one! Thatd be fun for her…Only thing is were working on her not being so aggressive with other dogs. Shes fine with them until they start barking at her. BUT then again, basenjis wont bark at her lol She CAN bark, but she hardly ever does, true to the basenji breed she yodels more and "talks" more than anything

Hi!
Hello my name is Vanessa… I live in Washington state.I stumbled upon this forum from looking online about info. on Basenji Mixes...I have a 5yr old Basenji mix. We got her from the local pound! They were sure she was part Basenji but didnt know what else she was mixed with. So shes just out adorable Basenji mutt I decided to join because once we actually got our dog, I became very fascinated with this breed. My dog is very different from all the other dogs Ive had She definitely has quite the personality!
I hope to share stories and find out more about her breed, from first hand experiences. Because I have certainly researched online but nothing compares to first hand knowledge!
