Videos of Tayda and Lenny playing!

  • Been meaning to upload these for a while! I love when Tayda and Lenny play like this… they get a little snarky sometimes, but usually they are just silently mawling each other. lol. Lenny is so much bigger than Tayda but Lenny is the one that always ends up on his back. In some parts of the video it looks like he actually just dives down so they can keep playing. funny little things....

  • Awesome videos. I just love to watch dogs play..it is so intense, yet so harmelss..
    Thanks for sharing..

  • Too cute…they are so cute together!!! I love the the pre-play dance and I love the way basenjis play. :D:D:D

The Tayda/Lenny dynamic seems very similar to my Ruby/Brando dynamic...Brando is usually the one on his back.

  • Mine play like that all the time - good to see that they bite each other playfully on the neck a lot - I used to worry they were hurting each other, especially because it does get so intense, and their faces look all snarky lots of the time - they bite each other's necks, faces, ears, legs - then break into a run and do the 500 around the house, and back to the play - quite intense, but no one gets hurt - so far. Very cute videos.

  • I could watch Basenjis play for hours. So entertaining… :D

I love to watch my girls play like that - although since one of them is a basenji mix, I do hear growling, whining, yodeling, and all manner of wierd noises from Gemma. Like yours, Shaye fight/plays silent but deadly! Your pictures are wonderful. Thanks for posting.

@kiroja: LOL Kim, I had one of those too and Mojo learned to pull the string as well! Soo funny how they entertain themselves. :) Two problems though, first he would tend to chew up the plastic ring that held the string so couldn't play with it no more. And second they remade them with solid tabs for pulling which wasn't easy for the dog to grab and it was very difficult to find replacements with the original plastic ring type handle that he could hook his tooth through. I wish I would have made a video, that was priceless. Thanks! Hihihi :D They do that here exact the same… break the plastic ring.. We buy a new one the next time we see it.. The price here is around 1 dollar i think.. @kiroja: Ok, I found another good one! [yt]IUbW2i0Mc7k[/yt] This was a different type of cat toy. Mojo LOVED playing with it! It was a little electronic mouse that spun around, lighted up, and taunted the dogs. :) It was motion activated so he could keep himself occupied for a while. Although the noise did get a little annoying. lol After a while he would start chewing it, so I'd have to take it away and save it for another special moment. :) He got real good at grabbing it by the tail and whipping it around the room. Once he came a little too close to smashing it through the tv, it definitely had some weight to it! I think I used to buy them for around $6 at WalMart, so some fun and cheap entertainment. lol This one is so great! B's are so very smart!!!! Our Buana learned it from the sister of Hailey (that stayed with us for 4 months) and Chafuko learned it from Buana. Hailey learned it from Chafuko!

Sally Wallis in England has taken a lot of time to compile and make public a database of basenji pedigrees. It is available at http://pedigrees.zandebasenjis.com Anyone that has information on dogs that she doesn't have in the database should submit the information to her to help her keep the database as complete as possible.
