  • How could the judges not love that face? See all of us here know what we are talking about they just confirmed it! Congratulations Tillo!

  • @Janneke:

Yes, we are going to Groningen! And Leeuwarden.. And Alkmaar :D

    Good!

Were taking Eindhoven, Leiden, Antwerpen en then w'll see! We won't walk in eachothers way, thats for sure! :D

I love the pics (I did not saw them yesterday…)
The judge that took his mouth open, thats very normal in Holland..
They did it so very often with Buana at shows we walked in the past!
Most look for themselfe, I've never been asked to show their teeth.

I know most of them look for themselves.. but this was a bit too much! She didn't do it in a gentle way, and that's an understatement..

I think Tillo was too much in shock to react ;)

  • ah poor Tillo…..

That's a bit to much i think.. a judge has to do it gentle... Not on a hard way..

  • Congrats Janneke and Tillo!

    Regards,
    Esther

  • Congrats to Tillo and you!! We are so happy this show went well. =) and of course, love the pics.

  • I wish it was made standard that it was the handler that shows the bite…. and at the end of the exam..... I love judges that do their ring procedure that way.....

  • Congrats! Way to go, Tilllo! :D

  • Congrats Tillo!!

The last time we went to a show the judge was great. When she first came up she said in a clear voice "I'm going to examine your dog first and then I will ask you to show me her bite." It is so nice when a judge speaks clearly and loudly enough to hear. I am hard of hearing and most judges are very soft spoken so I have to pay very close attention.

  • Congrats! Beautiful dog…love the high 5!

I've tried bait and no bait in the ring. I think bait works better for Logan, but not for me. He likes it and responds to it well, but as a new handler it's a pain in the butt. I know what I'm expected to do. Doing it once in the ring is hard. I get caught up in the minute and then forget what I'm supposed to do the next. I once stacked Logan backwards on the table. D'oh! Logan is SUPER food driven and he knows if I have cookies in my pocket. That's all he'll pay attention to. Jumping on the handler is frowned upon. Yes, I know training and time will cure it. Not there yet. Too many hobbies. Showing, breeding, MGBs, stereos, astronomy, motorcycles, family, friends, travel, house, etc. I need more time.

@eeeefarm said in Complete newbie to showing: ... I had a husky/shepherd crossbred that was the same way. Put a muddy dog in the barn at night, open the door to a perfectly clean one in the morning! What the...? Did they wipe themselves with a horse? :face_with_tears_of_joy:
