Zumi's first show and our first point!

  • This weekend was the Livonia KC show in Chelsea MI and we did darn good for our first show ever! Zumi went Winners dog/ BOW for our first point! I was so proud of my little guy!!! The first round about the ring was pretty crappy, lots of lunging, and no gaiting what so ever, lol, but the judge saw through that. He gated like a real gentleman for Winners Dog, and won! Then went back in for BOB and we got BOW!! It was only a point but the first point ever for us! Wish me luck for tomorrow, and the possibility of another point! Once i figure this computer out i will put up some pictures of us. No pro-pics but still.

Congrats… the first points are and will always be special!!! I still remember mine... way to go!!!!! And hey... a point is a point no matter how you slice it!!! Good luck tomorrow!

  • Hey, if Chris is there tomorrow (the one with the Tri Open bitch), tell him Pat says HI!

  • Can do Pat! His Tri bitch got Best Opposite. Not sure if that gave her a point or not, as she beat one other bitch from the bred by class for winners bitch.
She was a really nice, sweet little dog. Chris was so nice and helped me so much. I had no clue what I was doing or where to stand. Such a nice guy. While we are on the topic, do you know the reg. name of his bitch?

  • Yes, she did get a point, you can see the results at this link…

  • Congrats and what great pics! Very handsome boy! :)

  • thank you all! Sunday we did just as well, once again going WD, BOW and Best Puppy in Breed for another point! I was VERY proud of my baby. We decided to stay and try our luck in the puppy hound group. Judge Booxbaum was really considering him for group 4, but Zumi decided he'd had enough and lay down, so the Norwegian Elkhound got it. Al Well, we shall try again at teh next show.

I got more pictures of him for Sunday, but am waiting to get them loaded.

not bad for our first weekend out.

He is a lovely puppy, and you are doing a great job showing him :) My puppy, on the other hand, was being a complete goofball (I guess that is what I get for not training him!!) The judge commented 'he was giving you fits today' ;)

Congratulations, and it was fun meeting you :)

  • Congrats! You have a beautiful little guy!

In the US, for AKC Championship your dog needs a total of 15 points with 2 major wins. Points go from 1 to 5pts, with 3,4 and 5 being considered major point wins. Points are assigned by groups of areas or large states, such as California is one area. Here is a link to AKC with the detailed explanation http://www.akc.org/events/conformation/counting_points.cfm

I will definately try to get some of Rufus… And hope they are not blurry!! lol Fingers crossed! I guess we will be in the same class as Trish and Dee's Coco, im assuming they will be putting her in the puppy class as well. I think they just want to see them all out there in the ring, they're not overly fussed about littermates clashing :) It must be so odd to have all the pups out at the same time, in my other breeds you get pups coming out all through the year!

@Janneke: Will you also let them run the next day? I don't know as they have never run before.

I can't take animals on the kitchen counters, so I used to have Jazzy "practice" on the coffee table. Now she will work anywhere. Her "code word" from me is "Hold", and she'll hold a pretty stand. I guess I should ask what Bryan tells her in the ring, LOL, for some consistency.
