Chaos' first real car ride

Basenji Talk
  • So Chaos whent on her first road trip yesterday. We took her teddybear so she would feel more comfortable in the car. She did great by the way. Anyway we came up on some road construction, and Chaos made a mad dive for her bear. She sat on top of it and stared down the construction workers though the window. It made me giggle cause it looked like she was worried they were going to take her bear. As soon as we were past she got off her bear and layed down again.

  • That's great. Now you know what her security blanket is. hehehe. Something like that can actually brighten up a road workers day. Especially the sign holders who just stand there all day, to see a dog jumping all around the car then stare him down when there's no danger of him taking the bear at all.

I love it when they talk and yodel. Whenever they do I always give them huge praises and lots of pets, though this positive reinforcement does not seem to yield any more yodels. I am very excited when I do get them.

There's something invigorating about cold snow on little basenji toesies! My Abbey loved all the snow we had last winter (unusual for us) but she was terrified of the neighbors' snow man!!

@MacPack: They are all probably teething! And the best things for teething are phones, glasses, purses…well, you get the idea. What excuse can I use for my 11 year old who still takes my wallet out of my purse (dumb human, left it on the table again) and eats it? My B is over a year old now. I got him when he was just under 8 months old. He behaved best while he was still a puppy. Seems backwards. For some reason I believe he's starting to develop more of a separation anxiety. Which seems odd because he has always been fine before. Nothing changed.

I have to agree with Andrea, it scared the crap out of us too. Mick is not a vocal boy but when he does Baroo I wish he would do it again. It's so sweet.

We use the seat belt/harness type for both of them. They're in the back and stay put. They just curl up and sleep.

could be. it also took me a long time to figure out the harness. I'll try again, this time with my hubbies assistance. We want him safe. This weekend my B was doing that sound right before they puke (gave him some rawhide bones) and I carried him to the bathroom and put his head in the toilet thanks to someone else's experience on this forum-sorry forgot who)and my daughter was laughing at me, but hey he threw up in the toilet and hopefully will in the future. I love how human they can be at times….really just like children!
