  • Hi,

When organizing meetups and offline forum events, the best and the safest way is to post an address to safe public location where everyone will meet, instead of providing the location of a private residence along with your phone numbers and emails.

We will soon post some help and guidelines on the best way to organize offline forum meetups.

  • Oops, sorry. I wasn't sure how to send her my information.

  • No worries. Please know that we want all our dogs and owners to be safe. We forwarded your info to setidog.

  • Thank you! I got her email.

  • I wish we didn't live so far away…I'd love to come too!!!!!

  • Hi Laura,

Sherman and I would like to try to meet up with you in Pasadena. Please tell us where you all decide on meeting since we can't post our email addresses and other information per the previous admin posts.

    Thanks,

    Suzanna

  • Shermansmom,

We sent you a private email with this forum meetup contact info. Anyone else interested in this meetup please email admin@basenjiforums.com. For the next meetup the meetup organizer (lauralopez) will post a meetup date and time with public location address and directions.

    Thank you

  • Just a quick thank you to Denise (Seti) and Brian (Garrett) who showed up for out Pasadena Basenji Play date. It was hot and I appreciate you both making the trip in this hot weather. It was really fun and I enjoyed the afternoon. The dogs all got along great and as soon as I can, I'll post some pixs of the afternoon. I wish the weather would have been cooler. It was better when we finally decided to move the human party under the tree. Seti and Talker finally did do some playing late afternoon and it was a highlight. Garrett you're chair is always available for you for your nap.

    Thanks all!

  • Sherman and I are sorry we couldn't make it to the play date. With two new foster basenji's, I just wasn't sure they were ready for all the excitement!
I'm sure it was a lot of fun.

If anyone is interested in adopting two cute 8 year old B's - let me know! I am fostering through BRAT, so you can read all about Leo and Ruby on the BRAT website.

  • Thank you so much for having us!! We had a great time and I'm so glad that Seti and Talker were able to bond. I've also been working on Tim…I think we are going to get that dog door :)

  • Here's some pixs in my photo bucket of our play date. I hope the link works. I always have trouble posting pixs on the board.

  • These pics are great!!

  • Hello Laurel Canyon dog park B-Gang … I'm delighted to announce that Ziggy now has a wonderful little sister! She, too, is a retired show dog whose competition name was "Unexpected Treasure." Her new name is Zen Zhara (pronounced ZAR-uh). She's a fiesty red/white 4-year-old who is definitely going to keep Ziggy on his toes! They're already playing and wrestling in my livingroom; I've even seen her do a few "body slams" to get his attention.

To avoid wrangling with posting her pic here, send me your e-mail address and I'll send the photos directly.

    Lori

  • That's wonderful! I can't wait to see the pixs. You have my email address so please send them. I'd love to see her.

BTW, So Cal 'senji owners I'm planning a June 7th play date at my house in Pasadena. It's a Saturday and it will be at 4:00 p.m. I figure the late afternoon would be nicer than the hot hot weather we had last time. Let me know if anyone is interested and somehow I'll get my address to you.

There use to be a private email messaging capability on this forum but I don't know what happened to it. Anyhoo, I'll try to get the info to you.

    Laura

  • Is there still a Laurel Canyon meetup? I would like to bring my Max.

  • Hey everyone and happy new year. I just wanted to mention that I saw a Meetup posting for Basenji to meet in Laurel Canyon. It just reminded me about trying to get out there again with Savannah. Hope everyone is well and I hope to try to drag her out there–she really doesn't seem to enjoy the whole experience but I love seeing you all and your pups. I'm sure Savannah won't mind tolerating the experience for me.

    :)

  • Hi to all…..
Yes to be clear we are all still meeting up at Laurel Park Sat mornings usually 1030 ish
we have grown! We now have a posse of about 10! can you believe it?
Anyone who is interested should bring your B to meet us!
    Hugs!

I have a 1 year old female B that would love to play. Haven’t seen any Bs in this area. I live close to NOVA so if you set up a date I’ll gladly bring her to a dog park!

@laurieannechen There is a SoCal Basenji meetup this Saturday, June 20, 2020 from 9 AM- 12 noon, Laguna Beach Dog Park www.lagunabeachdogpark.com Here is a link to the Facebook Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/359744554994753/ Join the Facebook group "Orange County (CA) Basenji Meet Ups" https://www.facebook.com/groups/942444349188499/ They are trying to set up meetups at least once a month. With the COVID-19 virus meetups were on hiatus but now that some dog parks are opening up meetups for Basenjis are starting up again. I live in San Diego so I really have to think about driving 1.5 hours with 2 senior Basenjis. Have fun! Lynn Bilotta

No I do not as I am in OH. I just monitor Craigslist when I have time and post the ads. I did not notice the ear tip missing. In cold weather climates, if a dog is outside in the cold, the ears can get messed up. We took in a rescue years ago that had this problem as it was somewhat neglected and left outside too long in the cold in OH. It seems like we used to have much colder winters back then. Jennifer

We are still in Reno but there is an even better dog park. I don't know which side of town you are located but it is definitly worth it. It is located in Hidden Valley-its called the Link Piazzo Dog park and it is fenced all the way around and they have a small dogs side and a large dogs side. I usually take Congo there and there is another B there that is a red and white B named Misty. I have had some problems up in Rancho San Rafael, especially since it is not fenced in and McCarran BLVD is right there.
