Day 4 no tv

Off Topic
  • Okay, so DH is gone on travel and I finally have control of the tv! Yippie, One Tree Hill, America's Next Top Model, Super Nanny, Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy, What Not to Wear - no complaining husband!

Then during the first 20 minutes of Wife Swap on Wednesday I lost the satallite signal because of heavy winds, I guess the dish got moved and now no tv until they come to fix it tomorrow.

I am going insane in this quiet house, maybe I should do my schoolwork. Nah …

Searching celebrity gossip online and catching up on the Basenji Forums is more fun! :p

  • That's really bad timing. I suppose DH will be home right after it's fixed!

  • Nope, he will still be gone for a little while but tonight I enjoyed some tv shows I had never seen before online and got to watch the whole season so far of Cashmere Mafia, not a bad show.

  • Our satellite got trashed too…the snow fell off of the roof and it's not a pretty site. We'll have to have it mounted somewhere else since this is the second time this season...and once last year too! Such a bummer...

The only Linus reference I know of is Linus Schlumpberger (sp?) who runs the Operations at UPS. Yes, an entire wheel can be lost. It is the driver's responsibility to check lug nuts and look behind the wheels to be sure everything looks good. I was on I-15 in Utah a few years ago and saw two tires, still attached to each other in the median. About half a mile further, there was a truck sitting with a bare axle end. Also, some very few drivers carry their spare tire pre-mounted on a wheel. This may have been the case and the driver lost it off his catwalk.

How sad, especialy for her children. It's heartwarming to see people do something for others. Usualy we hear such bad things that people have done to each other.:(

@mauigirl: I had 2 people ask me if I'm a Mom yesterday. Both times I thought to say "I do have 2 dogs…". It totally counts. There's nothing like picking up poo to show commitment. Amen to that!!!!;)

I grew up in Indiana where they get lots of snow but here in Alabama people don't know how to drive in it. We're in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and it's very hilly. Everything stops when it snows, schools close, etc. All they have to do is mention the S word in the forecast and in two hours you can't find a loaf of bread or gallon of milk anywhere. In March 1993 we actually did have the Blizzard of the Century and we got 21 inches of snow and ice. I got snowed in at work (I'm a nurse and work in a hospital) for 5 days. My son was 15 then and he was home by himself because I couldn't get there. He got bored and tried walking down the hill and the National Guard picked him up and took him back home!
