    I got a lot of great items at Petco. They had a large selection and you can take your dog in and make sure it fits!! OR you can do what we did and make your own clothes– sweatsuit legs make great sweatsuits for your dog!!

    You know how a lot of the clothes have guides that say this size should fit this breed? What breed size should I look for in buying something for the new pup? Its been so bitter cold here I would like to have something for her ahead of time. Any suggestions?

    well, jack doesnt like to wear clothes, but he loves!! bandannas!! lol. but of course i made him wear a shirt on xmas that said kiss me with a pic of mistletoe!! and then on halloween, we won the local costume contest at petco!!! lol. i wore a Navy shirt and hat with a sign on my back that said Go Navy beat Army, and Jack work a camo shirt and army hat, with a sign on his back that said Go Army, Sink Navy!! lol and we won, i was surprized…but it was awesome!! lol. very fun, ill have to put some pics up!!

    When I got my B she was 8wks. old and it was still chilly here in NC when I would take her out to potty. I could not find any clothes to fit her b/c it was almost the end of the winter. So I took a old thermal underwear shirt of my hubby's and made a sweater out of one of the arms, I just cut it off and made holes for her legs, it worked great and she did not shiver anymore. Now she has coats and all of a sudden doesn't like to wear them anymore, it was 18 degrees the other night, I tried to put her coat on for her to go out and potty and she wouldn't have it. So I just said what the heck, "Ok stubborn go out and get cold. She was out there about 1 minute, just long enough to pee, and like a flash she came through the doggie door. B's just gotta have their way, just like my hubby and 23 yr. old son, that is why Sahara works for our family. haha!!!!

    Florida doggy sweaters? Oh momma! This is a real cute pic of your boys. Cairo looks like he's always been there and loves is brother and Ceasar looks like he's much happier again. ;)

    LOL on the entire repertoire. That was my chow/coyote. I would just wait til she stopped and give THE command (or give it again if she started AFTER I had given it.. but most of the time she started the second she knew I had a treat) when she was ready to listen. But it was cute.

    I really believe this helps. Uzie does have separation anxiety and just about 10 min before I leave, I put on a station from Directv that has easy listening. I enjoy it when I am home and do notice that all three of my pups do seem to settle down on their beds and enjoy it! I thank you for posting the link, my girlfriend needs this for her aging Silky who gets so worked up during a storm that he defecates all through the house…..

    I agree with Basenji fan, I love our Boomerang tags. Mine are at least 6 years old and still look great. Double sided for more info, they have deep etching and just don't wear out. They have a lifetime guarantee, too. I have a plastic one for me, too, back when I was bike riding a lot, with name, phone number, doc's name and number, etc. Way cheaper than the 'official' human emergency ID tags (I got the red bone shaped plastic for me, stainless steel ones for the dogs)

    Jess - why don't you put a proposal to each of the individual clubs that they take a Discover Dogs stand. There are new people in the breed now who may be more interested. Also I do know that some of the breeds at DD this year had asked for double stands precisely to give space so that dogs could be rested without being crowded in. It wasn't a case of tired dogs biting but as you know Basenjis object to having strangers pushing into their faces. There are plenty of other breeds who would also object to this. After all I'm sure that nobody would put a dog of bad temperament on the stand. That wouldn't do the breed any good!! I remember one Crufts when one of the basenjis went for the judge and headlines were 'Biting Basenji'!! You can imagine the uproar and the disservice it did to the breed! I'm not sure who would ascertain that the information would be accurate though. I do know that some of the info on the club websites is incorrect!!!

    @basenjibratz: It's wonderful seeing a basenji run. They are usually the smallest in the big dog parks but they sure can keep up. When I use to take Talker to a make shift dog park (four enclosed baseball fields) he would run with a border collie. The border collie would always be chasing Talker and the humans were always amazed at his speed and how he was never panting while the border collie would be panting up a storm. It was wonderful to see him stretched out in a full run. Trixie's Daddy should be proud at his girl and so should you. :) Yes I have had several people comment that after a full run Trixie is looking at the other dogs like "why are you panting?" They have often asked me if she ever seems to get tired, my reply is always yes but it takes a while! They are beautiful to watch run! Everytime I watch her it amazes me!
