Yes, bless you. Do you roller scate by any chance?

  • Congratulations….for the second time today! How funny that you and Vanessa are getting your new babies on the same day!! Hey, I saw a photo of Tori Spelling with her pug in a doggie baby stroller the other day. Maybe you can sneak him into church in a stroller :) Or get one of those double strollers for him and your other baby :)

Oh see it gets easier with more :) The 6 and 5 yr olds play together and the 3 yr old well he needs a play mate to get introuble with as his little brother is too little to get into trouble :) I was Homeschooling too but well we decided to give me a break for this year and the oldest 2 are in school all day. I am so bored most of the time. The baby sleeps and without a fellow play mate my ds well doesnt get into as much trouble. Did I mention I like living on the edge :)

Nope I dont roller skate. I used to before i had kiddos now I think I might fall over. We do have a grass strip/ park across from our house and a park at the end of the street that we go to almost everyday after school. With so many little monkies running about I've learned that the more you keep them busy the less trouble they get into.

I might try roller skating again, I love to go out and about and I know dh would watch the kiddos while me and Guru go out for a skate :) Good idea :)

  • Congrats Shyla!! :D You're going to have a wonderful week-end, I'm sure!

  • how exciting….basenji puppy behavior is so funny when they are so little....they look like little pot bellied pigs with the swollen tummys and their scrappy doo charisma....

training it (potty train, learning commands such as sit, no etc or remembering their names) -from my experience it i harder to tach them so you really need to practice them few time in a day. Removing it from its litter? Will it have separation anxiety? -yes they would. 1st month would be difficult but after that they will feel more relaxed. Will they be comfortable settling in a new home? -it would take obviously but just be patient and always notice them for them to easily love you! good luck

My sister is also a nurse. She used to organize flu clinics, and one thing that was mandated was that there was a loaded syringe of epinephrine handy. I hear you about the cost of office visits! My horse vet will come to the farm and wrestle with 3 horses floating teeth, give a couple of shots to each, and the bill is less than my Basenji's routine office visit!!! Ridiculous!

@lvoss: It has been raining most of the day here and L'Ox has been unenthusiastic to say the least about going outside. He has been doing really well on potty training and is starting to ask to go out but you could tell every time he actually got outside he was horrified by all the wet. So his remedy was to run to the edge of the covered porch and pee and rush back in. His dilemma was how to do the rest of his business without melting in the rain? So while I was in the kitchen gathering up the dog dishes I hear a clatter and see a little puppy butt escaping into the garage through the cat door. I follow him out there only to find him pooping near the cat's litter box. I guess I should be glad that he seems to be using his brain for good rather than evil right now. My little girl was like that but got out of the habit. She realized that going in the house was naughty (she wouldn't go on the toilet training mats we got her) and even though she hated her feet wet she went on the grass anyway and when she came inside she did the basenji thing and she licked it off her feet.

@agilebasenji: You really, really do not want to bring a puppy home that is younger than 8 weeks old. In many states it is illegal AND the puppy misses out on learning valuble puppy skills, most importantly bite inhibition. Many breeders even suggest taking a new puppy home around 10 weeks. This is SO TRUE!!! 7 wks is way to young to be bring home a puppy and taking it from his/her littermates…. I don't let puppies go till they are 10wks... And please do not just take someone's word for it that there is no Fanconi.... please check it out for yourself. This is not to say that people are not honest.. but as they always say "Buyer Beware".... it is your responsibility to verify. Also were there any other health tests done? As Kathy pointed out, most of the responsible breeders all know each other... so I would have to ask the same thing? Who has 7wk puppies? I have not heard of a litter.....

Hello, I have some ideas for your stains. Everything these ladies have been saying is correct. Hairspray definately works for ink stains, it has been tried and tested many times by myself. It works on all fabric types from synthetics to vinyls and all polycotton and cotton blends. Just spray your carpet (I like to over spray usually) and take some carpet cleaner and it should wash out. The Tide pen is a miracle in it's self, I too have recently discovered. Spot shot works really good on most stains, it used to be a household necessity until we got our Hoover Steam Cleaner. No pet owner should be without one!:D As far as the Basenji, good ol soap and water does the trick with some elbow grease! I am disgusted to say that my boyfriend one day decided he was going to give Tang a tatoo using a black sharpie marker. I got mad at him and took Metinga upstairs and washed her head until it came off. It did not take that long maybe about 10-15 min of washing and the white was good as new. I used a bit of dog shampoo as well.:D

I think a nice long walk does help with car anxiety. It allows them the time to "do their thing: and everyone knows an exercised B is a calmer B….the only other article I once read offered advice on giving a small bit of ice cream to settle their belly. Most dogs do not do well with ice cream but they do make ice cream for dogs (Frosty Paws) and you could try that I suppose. Perhaps if the car ride was associated with "good times" it might lessen the anxiety a little. Like any species, if your B really has motion sickeness all you can do is to try and be alert to it and maintain hydration. It's good you are aware and I'm sure you will take care. My best to you and your Chance. M
