The Basenji Club of America and OFA are doing a health survey (actually OFA is doing a health survey for all breeds). More health testing results for Kobey, got his Thyroid back, also Normal….. now to get an update eye exam sometime this summer... he did have one at 9wks and all was normal.. but we didn't get it up on OFA....

He is rated OFA Normal, everything is in range other than the Free T3 and Total T3 values which are both low. And amazingly, Dr Dodd has already responsed to my email. She said those low values are usually an indication of "some non-thyroidal issues" but everything else looked good (she even provided the normal sighthound ranges for all of the tests). So, I guess I'll have to figure out what "some non-thyroidal issues" may entail and if it's something I need to address. I guess I'll put a separate post about that.

How long the results take to post on OFA for the Fanconi marker test is a bit variable. I would say that for most people it posts somewhere between 2-4 weeks after the email notification is recieved. They are also posted in batches so watch for other postings with the same Test Result Date as yours. If the batch posts and yours isn't there, then email OFA and let them know. If you submit your CERF paperwork, the CERF results will automatically link to the OFA site. CERF sends an update to OFA about twice a month so again it is about 2-4 weeks for it to show up on the OFA site once the dog has an OFA page.
