Our Basenji we have had since a pup. He's always had this thing that if we hold him or pet him a lot he will literally shake off after he is down on the ground. He also does this periodically when we walk him for no reason.
What on earth? Do other B's do this or dogs in general?
I think dogs do this for various reasons. Depending on context, it can be "whew, glad that's over!" to "well, that was fun, what's next?". At any rate, not unusual, IMO.

Mine will run down the garden through the pouring rain and into the wood shed rather than pee quickly and come indoors! They end up absolutely soaked but very happy that they've managed to find somewhere under cover.

Cory and Jayden loathe wet grass….especially Jayden. Cory will at least get off the patio long enough to pee. Jayden uses the patio. And he thinks the flower bed next to the patio with its nice dry pine straw is his personal potty! That is where I have to do most of my pooper-scooping.
