My Basenji Mix family

  • Edited because I read your other post. You created these dogs. I don't expect you to even consider my advice, but the red and white is overweight. Please consider joints and spine and get off the excess pounds.

  • its people like you that give the internet a bad name, no one asked for your opinion, though you are free to give one, but I will point out, it is misinformed and misdirected. F0_1482720041570_new.jpg or your information, the female is a mixed breed, so you have no idea what she is mixed with to make such a comment. Also we did feed her alot while she was nursing, she had 6 pups to feed during her term and after, she lost it all shortly after this picture, but it was one, we had them all sit for a moment, and it is still my favorite.![alt text]![alt text]

  • Breed doesn't matter, overweight is over weight. But yes, if that was right after puppies.

And I understand... when you want to breed your pets/mixed breeds and spoilsports like me point out if is not responsible, it does ruin the fun. You're welcome.

  • @katoman Hey, you should really try to relax some! You jump to the defensive all the time!! This is a forum......it's for everyone to voice their opinion!! You're not on trial here! It's really pretty interesting when a bunch of people start voicing their idea's & opinions! You're not going to get sue'd because you bred your dogs (at least not by any of us & doubtfully by the folks who bought the pups!). I bet there's a happy guy in there some where ~ let him out for awhile! Okay? It's easy to get along with most everyone here!!

Hi everyone, Thanks for all of your replies! Rex just had his first vet visit (first with me at least), and he was given a clean bill of health. The vet that I saw also agrees with a lot of you that he looks like a Min Pin more than a Basenji, but he is likely still mixed with something because he's a bit too big to be a pure Min Pin. I've looked at a few DNA Dog Breed tests online, and they seem to range in price and in quality. It seems like some of the cheaper (~$50) tests are fake, but they go all the way up to almost $250 for the higher quality ones. Do any of you have experience with these DNA tests / have a brand you found reputable? I'll be sure to post the results of any of the tests with this forum! Thanks again, and Rex is doing really great in his new home!! [image: 1559586518913-img_3707-resized.jpg] [image: 1559586546977-img_3720-resized.jpg] [image: 1559586568474-img_3708-resized.jpg]

The traits you described are also found in most of the Nordic/spitz type dogs. I don't see anything overly basenji-ish about him in the pics. What ever he is, he's very hansome.

She was only 16 pounds when I took her to the vet last but I know she is more now. She was also malnourished when we got her, she is gaining weight but she is still skinny. I made a photo album with some better pictures. I'll add more as I'm still searching through pictures on my camera to find some side views. But right now I'm off cause she is complaining that I'm ignoring her and not throwing the ball! :)

Oh yeah, he looks way more like a b-mix to me than a lot of the pups listed as basenjis on Petfinder. And they mention he's not a barker. What a cutie! Someone go get this guy! :D
