In need of some support

Off Topic
  • Another thought for jobs in the summer is dog/house sitter, if you can manage to leave your own overnight. Around here that pays $40/$50 per night, and is an alternative for people who don't want to kennel their dogs. I have dog walkers for when I am out of town, and they get $15 per walk, and seem to have lots of business.

  • A good friend worked her way through school cleaning homes with a 'Merry Maid' sort of company. You do need a car for that but as a bonus she learned how to clean her house completely in under 2 hours! Dog walking/sitting is good too, again, you may need your car for that. Best of luck to you.

  • :D whish me luck guys !!!

  • Hi! Guys!! :) well life's getting a bit better , didn't get the job >.<
But I did start my veterinary office assistant program this (Monday 7th) so that's a plus !!
And we did end up selling the car to cover cost of other things :) so looking to the Brightside it's awesome :)
If we have any luck by September Julio should be working :) and I'll be half way done my program and ready to start
A practicum and job by November

  • I'm glad to hear from you again and happy that things are looking up for you.

  • If you were in the USA there is lots of financial aid assistance for students, but Canada I have no idea. Glad things are coming together. I also know nothing about getting a Permanent visa when there on visitor one. Here they often require you to go back to your country, apply and wait. I know Canadian writer Joe Mallozzi has a girlfriend from Japan who has been on visitor visa. They've been together several years but the process to get her a permanent visa took them over a year. Hopefully you can get that done quickly so he can work.

I spent about 6 mos working as a groom for a stable in my mid 20s. I found it hell. As an avid horse lover, the things they do to horses are appalling. Of the 10 hotwalkers and 12 grooms only one other person and I had ever RIDDEN a horse. But I had dreamed of horse racing thanks to the old Black Stallion books, so I took off a bit of down time to try it. I am glad you have taken another career.

I hope your father is doing better. And that you are proud of how you are handling so many life changes, stresses and things because far from "pity", I find you admirable!

  • Debra :) thank you for positive thoughts :)
And yes here in canada all we get are federal loans and provincial loans , it still only covered the cost of my tuition which is something
And we did sell the car to help with a few things , and here in canada people either go back to there country or apply from within the country but they must always have a valid status , visitor visa , work permit , student etc .. :) if we're lucky by September we will have some news from Canada immigration :) that he is eligible for a open work permit :)
My dad is doing better now , he went in for a check up with the specialist and yes the tumor was cancerous
so he will have to go back in 3 months again to get checked out , and etc so keep track of things :)
I can't wait to finish school and get a job - and even start back again with horses -ha probably end up taking a a equine sciences diploma program online afterwards ,
And yes I worked at the track some things they do are horrible , others are great and take amazing care of them it's a hit and miss !

Perhaps I should be more clear…this is not about me, it's about work. We have this new form that we have to fill out that asks about "persons living in the household that YOU have a duty to support". So..do you have a duty to support your 27 year old son? your nephew? Your girlfriends children? Legally, do you have a "duty to support" anyone other than minor children that are biologically yours? Living in the household, of course. BTW: I hate these new forms, it comes from the state and just goes to show how much they have no clue about local stuff.

I found this formula in a "household tips" book by a guy named Haley. 1 gallon water 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper 1/4 cup Tabasco sauce mix and spray affected area - i.e. the top of the fence I had a Sheltie next door that used my side yard for a bathroom constantly. Bad enough to have to pick up after my own dog before grass-cutting let alone the neighbor's too. A different neighbor told me that the Sheltie had been trained to do that B4 I bought the house. Anyway, it worked great!! I just used a regular watering can to put it down rather than buy a sprayer. It didn't effect the grass at all and, according to the book, should work on a multitude of "lawn loiterers". 666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666 Sorry, Arleigh just decided he'd put in his "2 cents" but I guess he's adjusting for inflation!! Should've hit "submit" B4 I put the keyboard down, it's a cordless and we're sitting on the couch together!!:D

You are doing a wonderful job! How about keeping some gum in the car, just for when driving. Chew, sing along, whatever it takes. $40 is a huge amount to save, treat yourself to a massage or facial with that money, girl! Anne in Tampa
