Wheat's new fanconi test

Off Topic
  • Wheat, my african village dog, was tested by the old test when she was brought into the country. She was shown to be a carrier. That was a bit shocking as she was the first carrier from Africa that turned u.
BUT with the new test, my sweet girl is shown to be Clear. As she isn't being bred, that is just good information
    to have.

  • One of RMH's village dogs tested Carrier also

  • I didn't realize she had done any testing on her dogs. Thanks for that information.

  • So, curious. First tested carrier and now clear. Sharron, will you strip test her monthly? I know you take such good care of your dogs (and Lou). :)

Not Sharron, but it was carrier with the linkage test, clear with the direct test. Should be no reason to strip

This is public info Sharron, very easy for you to look up and/or keep track of if you are concerned she is not testing enough. There are currently 27 OFA entries bearing the Avuvi name-of which I believe 7 (or so) are not Marie's.

As for the Avuvi carrier - it is via the linkage test so it too might be a clear via the direct.

  • Hooray for Miss Wheat.

  • Linda, thanks for this information. As they aren't basenjis. I don't keep track.

  • Fran. As Pat said, I understand I don't have to strip test them, but it's cheap and easy, so if its decided I need to
    I am happy to.
    Hugs to you.

  • Patty, thanks for the note. I told Lisa not to spend the $$ as Wheat is going to always be a virgin, but she wanted to, just for information to share with folks. I can't believe what a treat this little girl is to our family. She came all the way from Africa to find us. We are so lucky.

Chelsie-the B's don't get a chance to see them. The B's are in the front in a pen and the ducklings and chickens are in the back. After Shadow decided to help me butcher a chicken when we first moved in, I thought it prudent to keep them separated. They would definitely terrorize them. Yes, Robyn, I made the duck tractor. It has wheels on the one end so I can move it around. I do have a duck pen, and they will go in it when I fix the duck house. It seems rats, or something decided to make a meal of the one end and floor of the house. So, I have to fix that. I do really like it, but it won't be big enough in a couple of weeks for them. I will try to get more pics of the little monsters today. (And, the pen will work very well for one of the dogs if I ever need it!!) Yes, they grow very, very fast. If I can get a pic of them up and about, you will see how it's very hard to tell which one had the spraddle legs. The rouens are bigger than the muscoveys. There are three rouens and they have an eye stripe. While I-70 and I-75 seem to be the major cross-roads in my neck of the woods, I rarely get up that way. However, if you ever find yourself on I-675, I could wave to you from the bridge near my house:) "Shiny Hiney" …LOL..I'll remember that.:)

@Natalplum: You both are in my thoughts. I hope your DH comes home safe and healthy. You will NEVER be lonely with your B's around. They are the best to call on for some love and comfort. Not to mention a lot of laughs! That's the best thing having a B brought into my life. I was so depressed, and then along came a B to make me laugh again. Worth their weight in gold, for sure….
