  • I will send the link to Anne H. She's in Lubbock and would, I'm sure, want to know if there are Basenjis needing homes there!

  • I noticed this ad is from 1-18 and I believe BRAT rescued a mom, dad and baby in TX the end of January. Hopefully this isn't a new family because BRAT had quite a few in TX last month.

  • Yes, Texas sure gets hit hard with b's needing homes..sigh.

  • Personally - i wouldn't take a job if it meant me giving up my baenjis - I do hope that these find wonderful 'for ever' homes.

  • When I went through my first divorce I kept my pets.
I had to rent a house in a, well, not so nice area, my mom wouldn't even come visit
after dark…but I had my pets.

    Different folks have different issues..

  • I am a little confused. Are these dogs in Lubbock, Texas? The tread was originated from N.Carolina. NO answer to the question if "this is a new family…?" opps, just noticed that it was indeed Central Time. Interested in personality and ages....

  • Buddy the person POSTING is from NC, but she is posting ABOUT dogs in Texas.

    anyone can go to
    allofcraigs.com
and do a search of anything listed on craigslist anywhere. i'm not certain if it is for all of the US/Canada or overseas, but i've seen listings for all over the US/Canada when I've used the link

I'm in NC, but I found the ad using All of Craigslist. I emailed the owner about BRAT, then posted the ad here just in case. You can email the people in the original ad, but I think BRAT may have already picked them up. Is that the consensus?

  • Anne says these kids have already been picked up by BRAT!

Has anyone e-mailed the seller to find out what these dogs have been used for? Were they breeding dogs and where did they live? Is there anyone with experience with these types of dogs that could take a look at them and lives closer? Does anyone know their pedigree or at least sire and dam? They are of the age that Fanconi usually strikes. I am concerned since breeding season is coming up and it looks like they all live in the same kennel. I find this unusual but perhaps the owners do not have a lot of kennels.

There is still a lot of life in a 13 year old basenji, I hope someone is able to help them out.

@hdolbow: yeah definately. mia's a handful and rockys got a serious attitude sometimes, but i could NEVER even THINK of getting rid of them. I think some people just want companionship and because B's are tiny and quieter than normal dogs.. they think PERFECT for apartments and cities! but they dont know anything about them. unless you have the time to take them places, you cant keep them cooped up in a house all day with no outside exercise and expect them to be happy/cooperate with you. they dont have anything better to do than chew stuff up. at least thats how i feel Yes and these people lived in an apartment in the city… so my first question to them was "are you ready make the time to walk a dog?"...
