Where's AJ #21

  • Well, it's not where I am right now, but where I'll be tomorrow…if my human can get enough sleep through my loud, off-key singing, that is...

The song I am singing made #1 on the Roll and Bark Top 40 charts in 1959 and was sung by Willbite Harrier. It was later covered by Wags Podengo and a whole bunch of other great dogs that I just can't think of right now

    La-dah Dee-dah, Dah-dah Dee-dum, Here I come!
They got some crazy little bitches there
And I'm gonna get me one…

Maybe I better pipe down for a while. My human is pulling the pillow over her head.

    Cheers!

(extra credit for exchanging the Canine names with the humans who recorded a similar song.)

  • YAY! You are back! So glad to know you are both with us.

Is it "Kansas City"? by Wilbert Harrison?

    I love "Where's AJ"! :)

  • Yes, Kansas City. We'll be at the Edwardsville, KS Swift yard at around 6:30 pm today. (03 Nov)

So, any idea who correlates to Wags Podengo? Venture a guess?

    :D

  • AJ certainly rides in style !

  • Thank you. It looks pretty good for a piece of farm equipment. It's an International, formerly known as International Harvester.

Plans have changed… I'll be a few miles north of the yard.

  • Porter Waggener (sp ?)maybe? singing Kansas City !

  • Wags Podengo=Fats Domino. :)

    Thank you for playing….. :D

So, I guess I couldn't have seen you in my recent trip throught the city of flying pigs (for those unaware, there is one). Two hours of stop and go southbound, trying to get to the airport. I was in the backseat and looked at every truck on the off chance there might be an AJ sighting. Obviously, no luck, as you were a few time zones away :) Had I seen AJ, I might have jumped out of the car I was in and jumped into your truck for a couple of miles…just to say 'Hi'...that's how slow going it was. My advise, for north or southbound, take the by-pass...but what do I know? There were plenty of trucks willing to wade through the traffic.

I love Chicago…most truckers think I'm a kook for having that opinion, but I've been known to go 75 miles out of my way just to sit in Chicago traffic. :D There's a certain energy in Chicago I can't find anywhere else in the world. And yes, that says a lot...I've been in major cities from Tokyo to Prague (Praha) to Munich to Seoul as well as amost every major city in the US. There's just something about Chicago.

We were in Ohio when I wrote it. Ohio was admitted to the Union on March 1, 1803, but Congress apparently forgot to vote on the resolution. It was finally rectified on August 7, 1953, which technically makes Ohio the 47th state. However, it is counted as the 17th because it wasn't Ohioans who created the problem. Who says our Federal government isn't efficient? Zanesville, OH is the location of the Y Bridge, which starts and ends on the same side of the river. But that's where we were. The wolverine is the official state animal and nickname of the state. Fur trappers from Canada brought pelts across the state and folks further south assumed (there's that word again) the pelts were trapped in Michigan. The Detroit Red Wings assembled the Russian Five, who propelled the Hockey team to the Stanley Cup in 1997. Within a few days of the win, one of the team members was permanently benched in an auto accident, but the remaining four were instrumental in the 1998 and 2002 Stanley Cup wins for the Red Wings. We will be in Grand Rapids, MI tomorrow morning. Ms. Basenjimamma: The temperature here right now is 51F. :)

We used to have Blue Jays come around and really squawk and squawk. Now we have crows, mostly mornings doing the squawking, squirrels doing the whining and a woodpecker playing the drums on the telephone poles. Natures band!
