  • i'm glad your on here!. just help me with this and tell me what i can do to know for sure!!. i have been reading more and more on this and it's not a good thing for a dog to have!!. it's a slow death!!.

  • ivoss, i have to take him to the baseball feild to run for a few he's being a little brat right now but i'll be back on at 9;00 pm!. try and be on if u can so i can talk to u!!. thanks for the information u just sent me too it helped me out just now!!!.

  • Can you copy and paste your results into a message so I can see what it actually says? Here is my puppy's as an example of what it should look like when you paste it in.

    L'OX
    M BJ
    Fanconi DNA linkage Received: 01/12/2010
    Processed: 01/15/2010
    Test: FANCONI SYNDROME
    Results: CLEAR

Or did you get the actual certificate in the mail? There is a 2-4 week lag between owner notification and public posting so I can't go see it on the site yet. If you got certificate type in what it says over the signature. That is where it should say Probably ____________ for Fanconi Syndrome.

Retesting will not change the result. If he is Probably Affected then you will need to start strip testing him monthly with Urine Glucose Test Strips so you can catch the onset of the disease as early as possible and begin treatment. You should also neuter him sooner rather than later to reduce the stress on his body caused by hormones when rut hits.

  • i called today and they said risk that's all they said to me . but i dont'have the certificate yet!. but i think i did the test wrong!, because i kinda rubbed in the curcle part to hard!!. i thank i'm going to do the test again!.

  • @pedro:

i just dont'know what to do right now!!.i have been crying my head off.!! he hasnt'shown any signs yet but i was just he was tested as risk!.

If tested Affected, he will not show signs till after the age of two years. But you need to learn about strip testing and how it is done. Please again, go to www.basenjihealth.org and read about it. The best thing you can do for yourself and your Basenji is to learn as much as possible.

  • hi tanza, is that a real resault saying risk!>??? that's all they said to me today, on the phone. should i even to another test?, because i did kinda rubb tohard in the curcle area on the test.!!??

  • They should have emailed you a confirmation number that you can then go to the website and login and see the actual result.

Here is the webpage to enter the confirmation number
    http://www.offa.org/orderstatus.html

If you did not recieve a confirmation number, email ofa@offa.org and request a duplicate of your confirmation number.

  • i did get a confermation # but i type it in and get nothing!, but maybe you can and get something?. # SU44T-FBDBJ!

  • Or where on the site do i go to to get the resaults???.

  • I hope this isn't what I think it is. Who did you phone? Sorry, none of this makes sense to me.

  • the ofa.org site?> #573-442-0418!!! why>??????? could i have done the test wrong and thats' why there saying that/???>!!!

  • what do u thank it is>?????!!!

  • Give me a little time to check with some people and I will post when I get a response. Probably in a day or so.

  • thank u! i just went back on the ofa.org site and put my confermation # in and it came up but it's saying that he's ?t risk".!.please get back to me saap. and thank soooooo much for every ones'help here!. i'll take to u in a day or to!.thks again.!

  • Lisa, yourwonderful. I admire you so much!

  • Pedro, I am sorry, I made a mistake. Again, I am sorry.

  • what do u mean a mistake ? on what???>

  • I am very sorry to have to be the bearer of bad news but AT RISK means Probably Affected which is what will show up on the OFA website. Probably Affected dogs are not issued an OFA certificate.

  • That is sad news - I am sorry to hear it. Now it's most important to do as much for your dog, Pedro, that you can, by working very hard to keep your basenji as healthy as possible, and to find a good vet to work with. Others here will be able to offer you more information - I just send my best wishes.

  • hi, i talked to another breeder and she has never heard if a test coming back at risk!, and told me the same thing as ivoss was saying before that that is not a sure resault!. that it's not a diagnoses!to see if i can get another test at no charge!!!.

@Andrew: Worst feeling ever!!!! Lola got to half of a chocolate covered granola bar …I had heard somewhere you have a 30 minute time limit before the chocolate does damage. Just wanted to share this link showing the amounts of different types of chocolate it would take before you see a toxic reaction. http://www.vspn.org/Library/misc/VSPN_M01325.htm If it was a sugar free granola bar, and contained Xylitol, that would have been much more dangerous however. -Nicole

Ninabeana – I'm echoing ChaseandZahra and others here but TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS on this because the p.b. certainly will pick up on them. Have your brother contact the pitbull rescue societies as well as the military support groups. It's tough I know.

Well, at least PetSmart has pulled them because of concerns. I found them missing when I went to work in our treat aisle today!!! http://www.itchmo.com/smokehouse-brand-dog-treats-pulled-from-petsmart-shelves-2869 We will be speaking to his vet about this ASAP, though he's keeping food down and has his energy back.

I do agree with Tanza that yous hould check what is under the deck stairs that cause her booboo. My B loves to dig so I think you should check out what can hurt Lillie in case she is inclined to be a digger like my B. Hope she feels better. Give her lots of hugs and kisses.

I do now seeing what you say I do agree with a more verbal and/or stand up and as you say "higher dog" split them up. And I have seen this many times, where my boxer would do that at a dog park, he's such a dork lol, some dogs would start arguing and he'd go shoulder his way inbetween them and just stand there. I can also understand your point that there are a high number of boxers that don't get the clue and subtle hints, and part of it JMO is back to training. And the whacking them in the face, yep thats a boxer, lol. And I can understand that Basenjis don't like that. When we frst met our neighbor that had a Basenji, Reggie tried his normal "boxer" techniques (but thankfully he's not a face wacker) to get the B to play, pawing at him, low woofs, etc, since that didn't work he took the B's toy and stood there squeaking it at him and then took off in a game of chase, they were friends until we moved away.
