So glad they have been found and are now safe.
Seattle Kennel Club show was great
-
hi everyone,
I got back late last night after spending time at the Seattle Kennel Club dog show and meeting some wonderful basenji folks, and dogs of course!
After chit chatting back and forth with Sharron Hurlbut on this forum, it was a delight to meet her in person. Sharron is true to how she comes across on here - warm, knowledgeable and a true basenji person who performs a wonderful service with basenji dog rescue and basenjis in general. She helped me meet some breeders from the Pacific Northwest (of Washington State), which I felt was invaluable, as in the future I will own one of these delightful dogs. Needless to say that I was in heaven being around basenjis. It totally solidified that this is the breed for me.
I'm now making plans to attend the Auburn weekend show in August. I just can't get enough of the wonderful breed and the great people that are their slaves

It was fun wasn't it. Thank you for your kind words. I wish I could spell better, laugh
I like to think those I post to are as they say, and YOU sure were!!!
Wonderful to give you and your sis a hug. My pleasure to introduce you to the EBC folks. Its wonderful for me to have a breed club I can support.
I had a rescue person come over and give me He** for supporting breeders. I told her,
with our breed, without good breeders, our dogs would be dead. I told her about how the EBC club supports rescue, takes the dogs back they breed and fall into rescue and that they even TAKE in b's who fall into rescue who aren't of their breeding, just because it the right thing to do. Yes, I am very lucky indeed.
I do rescue, and I support good breeders. I don't see any issue with that! -

Seems whoever gave you h*ll Sharron, didn't have the best logic. Without rescue getting involved with breeders, all that will happen is that the number of dogs going to rescue will rise. If there is any way to keep the number of rescues down, so much the better. It would be such a delight to know that all basenjis were leaving the breeders and going to their forever homes first time out. It's definitely something to work and strive towards.

I have done rescue for years, and before I became a member of EBC and realized their support, I saw all breeders as adding to my rescue numbers. OF course, that is totally wrong thinking..but when you have more dogs than you can place, and not a good support system, it can make you ridged and bitter. I do know. I totally understand her and I tried to share with her how I went from where she is to where I am. I does take a village..it takes a breed club to open their hearts and wallets. It take a rescue to realize that breeders, good breeders keep the dogs we love healthy.
Its a long learning process, and thank heavens I have lived long enough to get to this.
