Mimi was a spur of the moment decision to help out a fellow breeder that has pancreatic cancer. I offered to take a puppy and place it for her. I started show-training her and she was in a few shows.
However, her Fanconi results were not as favorable as I'd hoped, so I am looking for another home for her sooner than planned.
She does well with all dogs and while shy at first with strangers, she is sweet and cuddly once she warms up to them.
She is looking for a forever home where she will be with another Basenji [or any canine] companion.
She had befriended a Pomeranian and has no issues with small fluffy dogs. I have no doubt she would be fine with kitties. She is beta to all dogs… even intact bitches. Being kennel-raised, she didn't have any socialization until coming to my house at 5 months of age.
Mimi is now ready to become the epicenter of a lucky family's life!

I am guessing the young gal that bred multiple litters the last few years may be the breeder. All of my AK Bs are much older or tiny puppies now.

@yodel4me: I would love to foster but since BRAT won't let me adopt I doubt they would let me foster. I also have considered rescuing a dog every now and then on my own but I live on a retirement income so I really can't afford the extra veterinary costs. Being retired gives me more time than money. So I've decided the best I can do is volunteer at the animal shelter. Unfortunately the closest shelter I live to doesn't allow volunteers so I can only help at one that is twice the distance when I need to go into the city. I'm BRAT's Basenji mix coordinator, would you ever consider fostering a mix? You can e-mail me at: giza1@wildroseinternet.ca -Joanne

BRAT takes back all the dogs they rehome for the dogs life. BUT some "rescues" aren't like that.

If you can get the full pedigree information, you might want to contact Sally Wallis who maintains the pedigree website. In her personal database she does collect breeder information when available. So she may have at least the names of the breeders and may be able to give them to you.
