I'll take this as a sign…

  • First Basenji's

I swear, I only left the room for a minute! I just happened to hear him drag something out of his crate and across the kitchen floor. It's been so warm today that I left the back door open so they can come in and out as they please, so I followed the trail to see his latest handiwork.

I'll take this as a sign that he wants a new bed… or maybe he just thought it would make a really good toy at that moment. Ah well, it's about time for a new bed anyway, I suppose.

  • He's well and truly killed it :D

  • I just got Buddy a new pad for his dog house and presto I got to see what was inside. At least he took it outside.

  • What a stinker! Let me guess: when you found him with the carcass of the bed, he looked at you proudly as if to say, "Look, Mom! Aren't you happy I killed the nasty bed-monster for you? You know, you have me to thank for making the house safer." :D

  • It looks like a CSI crime scene. Better get that green stuffing down to the lab. I wonder if the bed was still alive when he dragged it outside for the final destuffing??

Or he made this cute innocent basenji face: "Who, me? Mom, I would never do such a thing… It was like that when I found it." That's what my boxer does.

Oh yes, he was very proud, especially after he figured out I wasn't mad.

  • That looks just like the green couch stuffing that i come home to most days (I stopped getting the small tear in the couch sealed after he kept opening the same spot). It's not in a visible location anyways… silly dogs they are :D

Keep in mind, unless you correct them "in the act" they really have no clue that they have done something wrong, or more to the point "what they did wrong"…. shredding is pretty natural to a Basenji

The rain stopped thier foray, last week I counted 23 frogs doing laps in the pond while I was in the hot tub next to it. They hide well during the day and come out to swim at night. I added tiny goldfish last night to take down the tadpole population. When I put in larger goldfish a few yrs ago the possums and owls started snacking on them.

Ono is a Hawaiian word, used to describe something that is 'the best' AND happens to be very basenji appropriate :) We hesitated naming her something that so strongly resembled 'no' but we don't use 'no' very much in our training, we say 'hey' to get their attention and then give them another cue to follow when we are redirecting their behaviour. The pups love the huge costco bed, and I love the great cedar smell :)

Snorky, Yes, Jason is very talented with the camera, although he won't agree if you ask him…so silly! Yes, Roo still fits in the bike trailer (Burley Tail Wagon.) Actually both dogs can go in it at the same time, there is a cloth divider so Bonzo doesn't have to put up with Roo's antics on the trip. Miranda

@Humanoid: Love those pictures :) I've been to Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Surprised to see how many of you that actually was cycling….but it is kind of flat, so you don't have the same challenges as us up here :p Yeah, everybody has a bike here. I'm used to cycle around 20-30 km a day (school). So we make up for the flatness, by cycling for a long distance :p @Humanoid: In the winter, we just have to do other stuff … That's just great!! Looks like a lot of fun! It has been a long time since we had real snow and ice in the Netherlands..
