I want my basenji to have an African name, so I searched African names via Google. Most of the sites tell you what African language the name is from and what the name means. It was an enjoyable process!
Not to mention what you will call them when you're angry! :) I also like two syllable names, but often end up using one syllable, e.g. "Perry" sometimes gets "Pay", and my horse, "Hero" often just gets "Roe".

Booger is FINALLY registered with his proper name. We've decided to use "Griffin" in our dogs' names as a reference to the half lion/half eagle mythical creatures. The Egyptians borrowed them from other civilizations & used them in art depicting hunting scenes. So Booger is now "Griffin's Pick of the Litter."
