No more shots for my guys. They go in for an annual check up and kennel cough, which can now be done by mouth. Becca was titred last year and Tucker done this time around. I am pretty sure the rabies shot was what caused our Toller to get lymphoma. Tucker also has CUPS,which is an autoimmune disorder so his body is already reacting to itself so it doesn't need overloading from needles.

@Hana: Hana wags her tail a lot when greeting us, it sort of unrolls out, whips around, curls back up, wiggles and waggles floppily…. I was surprise how much she unrolls it and rolls it back up though, I think depending on her mood. Her happy tail flopping around is the cutest thing ever !! That sounds really cute. The more I hear about basenjis the more I think no two are the same. LOL

Reading is very good activity. It increase our knowledge and vocabulary. I suggest to some books like P.S. I love You, Piranha and Horror fairytale world. I hope you like it and enjoying reading.

I must add my vet to those who get kudos - Dr. Carlos Gandara at Companion Animal Hospital in Blaine MN. When EL D got sick, instead of "here's some antibiotics, come back in 2 days", he spent the entire evening going through test after test trying to address all the symptoms - he didn't give up until he had an answer (and it was right). He believes in "wellness exams" looking at all aspects of a pet, and when I brought Gossy in the other day, he discussed nutrition with me (yes I said nutrition - he talked about corn fillers and raw diets). While he doesn't subscribe yet to multi-year DHP vaccines (he does 2yr now), he has been doing his homework and knows the pros and cons. (And he knew basenjis only come into estrus once a year.) I have known many vets over the years and vets at the University vet hospitals but I'm absolutely impressed with Dr. Carlos - besides he's funny.

I always call ahead and ask if the vets have had experience with basenjis and are familiar with Fanconi….if they aren't I keep looking.
