I also thank you for being so good to give this boy a,home. it sounds as though he's had a really rough time in the past but I know you'll make up for all that. I hope he gives you a lot of pleasure.
B in kill shelter in Kansas

I'm not sure if this helps, but you do have the right to plan your fur family. I sounds to me like you've put in a lot of time helping, so the planned pup will be your reward. You know what works in your household.

I cannot sleep right now because I have 2 B's on my mind. I am worried about what is going to happen to this little guy, and I keep thinking about another B, Aries, a 13 year old, "former show dog" listed on another rescue site. At least the 13 year old is in foster, and at a no kill, so she is fine, but to be in rescue at 13, poor baby.
And Yodel. I can't take him. We have our 2 dogs, and a dopey lab mix foster in our house, along with our 3 cats, and 2 foster cats. We can't handle any more biomass in this house. These are the excuses I am making. Also, if we adopted one of these 2 B's, my puppy plans for a year from now would go down the drain. This is making me feel really guilty.
This Puppy would be our first purebred, and our first animal we planned on. Our others were all either found, dropped at the vet clinic where I worked or failed fosters. I feel like they chose us, and I love them for it, but I also feel like we deserve to choose this time. But I feel guilty for it. Am I killing a rescue by deciding I want a well-bred puppy?
Thanks for listening to my rant. I hope BRAT responds soon so I can absolve myself of some of the worry about Yodel, and some of the guilt by at least volunteering.
Nicole,
You have done and are doing more than most can or are willing to do with rescue. And you shouldn't feel guilty about wanting a well-bred puppy.
Edit: Ok, my grammar sucks, but you get the point.

Nicole,
Bless your heart, you have done so much for rescues, even if you hadn't you deserve to be able to choose a pup, now that you are very involved, I believe that you even more so deserve to choose your furbaby.
I understand the guilt, I get that every time I look too, but it is not possible for one person to do all that needs to be done. You are doing your share and then some, bless you for that. -
Nicole - As individuals, we can only do so much. Don't feel guilty.
I hope someone steps up to the plate and helps this boy in Kansas.
I, too, am worried about him. -
Sometimes the issue for rescue is not having a foster place to put the dog.
I don't know if this is the case here, but most of rescue folks are pretty full. -
I would love to be a foster but, alas, I know I wouldn't be able to set my b free to go to a new family. Same reason I could never be a breeder….

Vicki - I use to think that way, too. Yes, you get attached, but you know the people you are working with are capable and have the best interest of the dog in mind. I was surprised I could foster without tears and antics!
"I am involved in dog rescue: my wallet and gas tank are always running on empty, my house is never quiet and free of dog hair, nor is my car, my inbox is full of ongoing despair and misery, but my heart and soul are replenished with unconditional love, loyalty, and joy that can only come from a rescued dog!" ~ Author Unknown

I contacted BRat and my foster mom of my brat and the shelter to see how things are going. If I hear anything, I will share. We are 3 hours away from Hutch and had planned to be out of town on Saturday, but I will keep trying.

HERE IS THE EMAIL I JUST GOT:just completed the BRAT information , etc with the shelter. A BRAT applicant/volunteer will be there within about 30 min. to get Yodel. We may need to find someone to Foster yodel but won't know until he gets evaluated. I'll let you know tonight what is going on.

I am so happy to hear this! Please keep us posted.I would love to be a foster but, alas, I know I wouldn't be able to set my b free to go to a new family. Same reason I could never be a breeder….
You would be surprised. I think everyone has a failed foster here or there that you just click with so strongly that you can't let go. But the others, when you meet their new family, and see how happy the family is you just swell. I have actually become good friends with people who have adopted my fosters. When you know that they are going to good homes, and are going to be just as happy there as they were with you, it isn't hard to let go.
