Crystal, That is horrible. I can not believe somebody treats animlas like that…yet I can because we see it daily, in the news, in shelters and on the internet..inexcusable..

I contacted her. There are two names now, so not sure who she really is. She types like she is on crack or something. I wanted to see what she said about the red and white female since there were no pictures. It sounds like someone could get all three pretty easily for 300.00. I am in WA state, too far away to help but I could donate money to the cause if someone could get them into rescue.---

Basenjimama you are right i thought the dogs looked scared as well. I hope she finds nice homes for all three. Well done Crystal for rescuing Cody.

This is so disturbing.
I should stop reading the rescue section. This kind of story is upsets me so. I'd like to get the dogs away from this 'twit' of a woman and turn them over to BRAT.

I hope that they come through. I am stumbling through this and not computer savy! She is a pretty girl and looks happy w/o the gal around it looks like.

I wish I would have known she still had them before I moved from Greensboro, I would have gotten another one or two or ALL of them. Since I'm staying with my parents now, I asked them how they felt about getting another B, but they said we can't handle another dog, and especially not another basenji.
I really wish I could get the older female, because Cody already knows her; they were bred along with one more female, so the puppies are his, or at least that is what she told me. If that's true, I'm not sure if temperament is inherited, but if so, Cody is a very sweet boy. He has had the one slip up with my mom (he bit her, but I think she may have accidentally hurt him), but other than that, he is very friendly and loving with the people he knows and is very tolerant of strangers, and good with children. He is extremely loyal to me. He is also quite the escape artist and he can be very destructive when left alone. Remi is very sweet as well. Like I said, I don't know anything about breeding and what is inherited, but if she was truthful, they are Cody's puppies. So if anyone is thinking about getting one from her, I hope that helps. As a warning though, neither Cody nor Remi were housetrained, but luckily Cody learned to hold it and go outside within 2 days.

I hope these dogs DO end up in a shelter…at least it will give BRAT a chance to get them out...and most shelters do have vets on staff, so they can get some kind of medical care...at least OURS do!

Just thought I'd update this since I found out new information recently.
My friend that got Remi from this woman recently had to give him to a local rescue group. Luckily, the woman from the rescue org that picked him up has basenji and said that she may try to keep him if her female gets along with him.
Apparently, they have been getting calls from people in the area that bought dogs from her (quite a few were basenjis that were being given up to the same rescue group that my friend gave Remi to), some of which were promised papers once they showed proof of spay/neuter (me included), but she changes her email address often and doesn't answer phone calls (when I called and emailed her, she took all of her ads off of craigslist and had her phone cut off, so maybe she uses pre-paid cellphones).
An investigation has been launched, but now she is using her sister's name. They know what she looks like and the general area that she lives in, but they just can't seem to catch up with her. Apparently there is a lot more to the story that we have been told, but I just hope they catch her and can actually do something about the operation she is running. I just remember what horrible shape Cody was in when I got him, and no animal deserves to be treated that way.

Oh, those poor dogs in that awful womans care…shame on her! Good for you for trying to find out how to get her shut down!

Crystal, you are an angel…
..and Cody knows that every time he looks at you..
