Welcome and congrats on your new addition! I'm no expert, but I would re-think neutering early. I would wait until the growth plates fully close and then neuter him. And I would not say that the breed is susceptible to attacking, though Basenjis can be reserved and cautious with strangers. Most are confident, loving dogs, when socialized. It's always good to keep an eye out for problems, however, and address any aggressive behaviors before they have a chance to escalate. Good luck with him!
New to the Forum

Hi everyone,
I am new to the forum as of yesterday and indeed forums in general! This seems to be a really useful resource for Basenji folk and those aspiring to be so.
I am not new to Basenjis though! My name is Steve Gray and I was part of Jisgard kennel that was most active in the 70?s & 80?s. My mother still has one Jisgard related bitch living with her and I have acquired a puppy bitch this year and I am planning to campaign her.
Looking forward to getting started at Southampton Open and then Blackpool Championship Show. It's good to meet old friends again and people that are new to me.

Welcome to the forum Steve, it's great here,
ShelleyHi Shelley,
Good luck in your search for a pup, if you need any advice/reassurance regarding breeders etc. I am happy to help, as I have been though the same process over the past few years and I have a little inside and impartial information, not being a current breeder.

Steve,
any advice regarding breeders would be very welcome. I have never purchased a Dog from a breeder before, Benji was a rescue.
I am hoping to get a Pup simply as a Pet. Hoping to get to Blackpool in July to see the Basenjis,
Shelley
