Congrats on your puppy…. has he (or his sire/dam) been health tested for Fanconi and PRA with the DNA test? Very important this if this has not been done for his Sire/Dam that you have your boy tested. And even if they have been tested, never hurts to follow up with having him done also.

Hi Angie,
She does look like a Brindle Basenji. Also i think Basenji's eyes look like they are wearing eyeliner. Hope you and your family are enjoying her and the many wonders of the Basenji breed.

I forgot I was registered for Basenji Forums until I got your email. I will reply to it privately, but I can tell the others on here that health testing has been done on the parents of my planned litter this year. Both have had hips done, been Fanconi tested and had eyes tested. The stud has also had thyroid done. I hope to get thyroid done on the bitch before breeding season.

Welcome! I have seen red and white Shibas that looked just like a long haired basenji. You could have a shiba-basenji mix, perhaps. He is a very cute dog, I see why you are in love. They are hard to resist!
For about $60 there is a DNA test if you are really curious…..
