Eldorado does litter box train and they were always very successful at it when I visited..I know they line the outside of the box with newspaper too..so I would make sure to do that also so she's as familiar with the process as she can be. I would suggest if you can't get her to start using it for pooping soon to just get her a coat and start outside. The longer she goes without pooping where you want her to the harder it'll be when you need to change it. Bad habits develop fast. I wish I started Oakley outside right away versus litter training. He always would pee in it but he wouldn't poop in it. He got very used to pooping next to the box on the kitchen floor and to this day prefers going on hard surfaces. I know it's hard to imagine potty training outside in this weather but you might be better off in the long run.
I'm not against the litter box, I also have an eldorado pup; I just know the entire process would've been easier and more beneficial to is both if I braved the weather and did it in the first plAce

Welcome, Patty - and to your NINE B's - I'll bet they keep you young! I'm much more active since I got my one basenji, who is only 4 months! I'm hoping to just survive her puppyhood - you must have scores of knowledge to share so it's great to see you have joined our forums! Got any pictures of your B's? Do Basenjis herd? My puppy just seems to want to chase and eat everything!

Hello Patty, and welcome. You must have been one of the very early UK people to get involved. A true font of knowledge for everyone here. 9 of the breed must keep you very young!:) Are they like a real pack?

Admittedly Basenjis and sheep are a problem.
Thank you for such friendly welcomes.I have had some Basenjis who I did eventually manage to 'train'!!? to be safe with sheep and could wander among them and occasionally help to herd, others (including my current pack are killers and can't be left to wander freely where the sheep are. We have a double gate system for visitors.
There was a time when I could have taken them all out for walks together but now I take them 3 at a time and my whole day is taken up with exercising dogs.
When I get the hang of my digital camera I'll post some piccies.
Nomrdggs - I'm not sure I have kept my sanity!!!!
Tanza - I have actually seen some of our original imports - and I have attempted to breed as close to the original type as I can. I bred my last litter 4 years ago.
