The first time I brought Shaye to her vet, he had never seen one before - he told me he was delighted to be able to get to know another breed, and has since gone online and has talked with other vets and researched everywhere he could think of so he could find out if there were any special things to be aware of in treating her. Most vets will go out of their way to school themselves if your dog is one he/she has not treated, I think. He is now wonderful with Shaye and with Gemma too, and I'm glad I let her be the "guinea pig."
Look at me !!!

Great pics and the brindle from alain.. (love her!!!!!!)
Benji is getting a very very beautiful man…Can't wait to see him!!!
Hey Kim ! Bendji has got his last but one shot last Saturday including the one against rabies so I have to wait 21 days before I can take him to a foreign country … Consequently we can plan some activities from 21st March on ... I'm looking forward to it !!!

The tongue sticking out is priceless

We had a scary day though: how Bendji succeeded in catching it we don't know but suddenly I saw him chewing on something strange … it was a plastic flask filled with Mercurochrome !!!!
He already pierced it before I could grab it and he ran away with it, soaked his alligator toy with the liquid, dropped it when I yelled at him and ran off ...
Luckily the liquid is waterbased so cleaning him and the gator was merely 5 minutes work and there were no stains of the liquid in his mouth ... Pfff. Scared the hell out of me !!!
BTW, all this happened at 5 AM because mister "high activity" was clearly awake (and I wasn't !!!!). GOOD MORNING !!! -
I'm glad he's okay!
-
he is SO cute. SO SO SO cute.
AHHH I want a B puppy!

I cant believe how CUTE he is with the Tongue and all!! AWWWW!! You were right I think Maverick and Him are EXACTLY the same age!! Does he know any commands? Where does he sleep? How much to you feed him? (sorry, just wanted to compare) lol. Maverick was born November 14th 2008… so on my Birthday (3/14) Maverick will be 4 months old. SO HANDSOME!!!

Oh yes he is model of a Basenji: never causes problems, friendly to strangers, curious,… He knows sit and stay, and now we are practicing down.
Since he came into our home he sleeps in his crate in our bedroom. We also leave a small bedlamp on during the night. When he wakes up in the middle of the night he can see us and falls back to sleep imediately. He was never allowed in or on our bed so he never asks for it. In his crate we have placed a very comfortable and cosy doggy bed so he LOVES to go in his crate and he has never protested. At daytime we move this doggy bed to the living room or into his travel crate and when he is tired he automatically moves into it. It is also ideal during car trips in combination with a doggy seat belt. The bottom is leak-proof so no messy car seats !!:)
When studying about the breed I became aware of the fact that there are probably as many opinions about what to feed to your furry as there are people on the globe !!!Everyone has his own idea about it and often thinks what he/she is feeding is the best.
After reading Dr. Pitcairn's guide to natural health for dogs and cats I found his approach very realistic and commonsensible so I threw out the "kibble-bag" and switched to homemade food, using the recipes in his book. It takes me about 15 minutes to prepare Bendjis food for a whole week. I freeze it in portions of 250 grams (about 1 cup) and he eats 2 portions a day. This seems a lot but don't forget that half of this fresh food is water ! As a consequence he seldom touches his water bowl. The meals are highly digestable so he only poops once, (sometimes twice) a day and his stool is very firm. I also add fresh grated veggies every 2 days (carrots and zuchini). HE LOVES THIS FRESH FOOD, he has a shiny coat , no bad breath, and seemes in top condition so I stick to these recipes. But as I said, the choice is up to you !
BTW Bendji was born on the 29th of November so they are indeed almost the same age.
If you want some more info about what exactly I'm feeding Bendji just let me know !:) -
