Bedroom bliss

  • OMG everyone,
The kids and I had quite possibly the best sleep we have all had together last night. Normally I have to get into bed first (yes I am one of those who sleeps with the kids), then get Charlie on one side of me and Zaire on the other. This is done to avoid a Parson Russel Terrorist attack. Well last night I went to bed a little late as I was watching a great show on the science channel. So I knew the kids were already in bed, but when I got there I couldn't believe my eyes. There they both were snuggled together on one side of the bed. I sneaked into bed and laid down next to them, and we managed to stay that way all night. It does my heart good to see the old man actually relenting on his bed aggression with her. YAY FUR FACES :)

  • Congrats on the great sleep! :)

  • A good night's sleep with 2 dogs is a thing to be treasured! My sleep quality depends on where my 3 decide to sleep. What a nice surprise to see them cuddled together!

  • From what I've seen so far, you got a rare nice night sleep. I don't usually have that problem, as Medjai knows I must sleep as well. I hope when I get another dog, they both agree on this. Medjai will usually sleep next to me, but he also lets me use him as a pillow.

  • Oh what cute pictures. Yea I have actualy found that 2 dogs doesn't feel more cramped in bed than 1. With any luck if they keep choosing to sleep next to eachother we will be fine :). I can't imagine how my sister makes out with her 2 dobermans (I think she ends up on the couch most nights) :D

Well isn't she a sassy little thing? Thanks so much for the information. I had not heard of this one at all. I will Google it to get more info and find where to purchase! Deb

Hi @Vesna, it’s interesting you say that about the spay. Our tri-color actually just got spayed this week and her coat shed before that. I noticed small amount of black hair growing in where she shed, hopefully it grows back. What phase is your tri-color at? Did this just happen?

Ah ok cool thanks, I had something like that when Safi was smaller and it was the most successful for sure. She outgrew it quite quickly though

I can't listen to that, it would wake my girl up and well... I'm not into a "sing along" just now. ;) I will say that many canines howl and yodel and bay (at the moon, whenever a fire truck passes, etc.). I'm not certain that any one breed is distinctive enough to have a sound all their own, but many a proud owner would probably assert so.

We use ones from Rukka. Not sure if they’re available everywhere but they are they best ones we have tried (others always fell off, especially in deep snow). I think having two Velcro closures on each sock has been key. I also prefer the soft shell ones as our B seems to accept them more and they don’t twist as much as the ones with a hard sole. Here are the ones I am referring to: https://rukkapets.com/paw-wear/thermal-shoes-black

@B5004EVER , sounds familiar! Yes, they do like to make themselves comfy at your expense. One of mine liked to sleep horizontal across the bed, leaving my husband and me to cling to the edges, as you describe. Another caused us to almost die.....laughing. The covers were pushed up, and when we moved them we discovered her sleeping on her back, legs in the air, little butt right next to our heads! Hysterical! But most of the time our Basenjis were trouble free sleeping companions, although on occasion they did snore....
