Sweet smelling

  • We all know that dogs like to roll in the most disgusting stuff (like dead fish and skunks). Well the other day I was cleaning up the Sunday papers and I noticed EL D was just rolling around like crazy over a small piece of paper. I shoved him aside to see what it was – lo and behold -- the perfume sample inserts! Boy did he smell good!! :D Even today he still carries some of the scent.

  • That's cool! I'd love to train our B to do that but she'd probably be happier tearing up the pages one at a time. LOL.

  • For mine, anything with citrus in it has them rolling around… and especially funny when it is spray for the room....

  • And OMG…baby butt cream! Most of our dogs will seek it out, and try to rub all over it.

Pat, since you use A&D for tails, have you ever had one try to rub on it? We used Desitin for Ethan....maybe it is just the smell of that one brand.

sort of….....diapered baby tails! Skin ointment for various things.....baby's butts mostly.

Thank you all. I will know how to field questions now (it’s not like it was anyone’s business but it was making me feel uncomfortable. I felt people were looking at my beautiful girl like there was something wrong with her!) I love her so much and she truly is beautiful as are all basenjis. Now I know what to say. “Her nipples are proud nipples as yours would be if you had nursed 10 babies twice in your life. “ lol! Thank you all.

I recommend Isopropryl Alcohol if it is very bad. Avoid harsh chemicals unless necessary. Follow up though with waterless carwash. It works great on floors and helps protect the varnish surface and the woo d from scratching and drying.

I would think they are extra interested in the smell because it is so foreign to them. So they keep sniffing it in hopes to identify it.
  • Ew Zip! why would you want to smell like that?!?!?!?!?!

uggh reminds me of my parents dog. Lady, in her younger years, would take cat poo out of the litter box and eat/roll in it. outside she would do the same with random poo on the ground. just be glad you didnt have to clean up the carpet too! lol:p
