• My beautiful girl Ginger is great with people, but dogs are another story. Big or small she growls at them all! She is about 6 years old, so she isn't a pup anymore. Does anyone have advice on steps I can take to make her more comfortable. I am also looking for an older dog socialization/training course in Seattle… 😕

Have you considered a behaviorist? Instead of a class situation? You would get one on one attention with your girl… then try a beginning Obedience class

  • I think this is the correct trainer…they will give you a free eval of your rescue dog...you just have to bring it in to them.
They will eval and then tell you what they think you need to do.

I have taken my last 3 to the Academy of Canine Behavior in Bothell. They do a great job in training you to train your dogs, starting with puppies at 16 weeks, which is pretty much the pups just having a great time running around and playing. The sessions are about 7 weeks and I recommend taking all 3 levels. Call them and ask for a brochure.
425-486-9567 and they will answer any questions you might have.

Ask them about working with basenjis and how much they know of this breed.
Let us know what you think.

  • Try to find an animal behaviorist near you…they can definitely help. Check out this website.
