@theoriginaldev your life as you know it will never be the same! Patience, consistency, a firm but gentle hand, with a sense of humor is what you are going to need for the duration of the life of your precious gift. WELCOME home little one!! :)

@vickayx: Love that stare… are they like B's..? For example u call and call and they ignore and ignore .. makes me laugh. My saying is... "aww my little weird-o not listening as usual." Yes, you got it!! :)…i think they're like bigger faster Basenjis!!!

Ewww. I have gotten those kind of surprises too, with my cats. They have given up on rats because they have gotten very sick from eating them, but birds seem to be fair game. And like what Hope did, it always seems the head and legs are left. I guess the middle parts are juicy. Now, that is a great way to get your Hope used to having her teeth brushed. :) Just leave a few tooth brushes out around the house. By the time you really want to get into a teeth cleaning routine, she will love it!

I am very lucky, I do rescue and have support of many of the PNW breeders. I also have a very responsible breed club who take back any basenjis I find fall into rescue. I am also able to refer folks to quality breeders who have puppies, who don't want a rescue. So, win/win…and best of all the b's WIN!

My husband was afraid that Cooper was "my" dog at first, but things really evened out after we went through training as a family. Now, Cooper is attached to me during the day (when I have days off), and glues himself to Geoff after dinner every night. He still walks and rides in the car better with me, though. And I'm the only one who can brush his teeth!
