    @liliana He co-breeds with several people under the Mibre and Skyewalker affixes. If you go to my pedigree database website and ask it for either, you will find a host of pedigrees and can follow them back to see if Fanconi or PRA tests have been done. See signature block.

    @daureen - I will also say that my C-Me picked me... note however that most all responsible breeders will pick the pup for the home.. this is why breeders want to know all about the home/family/lifestyle, we want them to be in their forever homes... that said there are exceptions.. in my case this was a puppy back from a breeding... I had the choice of the 5 bitches in the litter but from the moment that I went in the house, this was the pup that came to me and didn't want to leave. LOL... and in some cases there could be two that are about the same and would fit the family... then they have a choice. My C-Me was a great choice and while there were others in the litter that was maybe a bit nicer as a show puppy, but I could not turn away from this girl that picked me... She is a Dual Champion and whelped a wonderful litter... And she is a loving girl to all in the family

    I cannot thank you enough for the help. My other dog, Herbie, has been very patient with Chester. I hope someday they will be friends...and Chester will understand he is finally safe. Thank you again.

    Hi and welcome! House training with any dog is the same boring work... with an adult it usually takes less time than a puppy because their bladders are able to hold longer, but honestly, it is absolutely necessary to watch, leash to you, crate or outside every second until you have a dog who consistently asks to or goes outside.     @tanza: By the way, 80% of Basenjis have umbilica herinas… and there is NO emergency to get them fixed as 99% of the time they never cause problems. We show with them, we course with them, even the bitches have puppies with umbilica hernias... Your Vet is totally off base... that that he/she is the first... happens all the time. Also there is a Basenji breeder, who is a Vet (Tracy Leonard) in Beavercreek, Oh... maybe she could give you a referral? Our Basenji also had an umbilica hernia when he was little. Our Vet told us to just keep an eye on it but said it was pretty common. The umbilica hernia our basenji had took care of itself and the dog is completely healthy. Like Tanza has said your Vet is off base and you are doing the right thing by seeking another Vet. We chose to use a Vet that specializes in sports medicine for dogs. I would follow the advice you have received and get a referral from a breeder or contact your local AKC club and find out if there are any other Basenji owners in that club and ask them who they use for a Vet. They should be very willing to help you. Jason
