Goober is afraid to come down the stairs. He's delt with them at other houses, but at home he'll just sit at the top and whine. When he does that I either go up to bed or put food at the bottom of the stairs, until I go up to bed.

Maybe he had a spill going down and is afraid it'll happen again. I would go up and help him one step at a time with praise. With your presence and trust in you, may help him feel safer. Let him know he can do it and treat and praise him when he does. Praise him like there is a party to be had. :) YAY - GOOD BOY GOOBER - WOO HOO!

Stairs are scary…mine wouldn't go up or down our stairs for months & they're older. It also depends how steep & how many steps there are too that could be intimidating.
I agree try a few steps at a time with lots of praises & making sure he doesn't take a tumble.

Are the stairs enclosed-like a hallway but stairs? or are they open? This may have something to do with it as well. Some dogs are claustrophobic and if the stairs are open they may be scared to fall through!
Just some thoughts!

aww…thats kinda cute tho, Its random what scares B's huh? Jack doesnt like when my hubby gets out his guns! he's ok with fake guns, he can tell the difference somehow (if any of you have ever heard of airsoft, they look VERY realistic) he is also afraid of the beep sound my themometer makes...lol. im going to start a topic on what silly things B's are afraid of...lol.

Doesn't matter, they smell the gp residue. That's how we train weapons detection-that and the metal smell.
