@zande I know that I’m lucky to have found him! I hope he feels that he lucked out, too. Actually, I don’t care very much what “mix” he is. I had just never heard of basenjis before my Vet mentioned it. He doesn’t have a long tail - it seems to have been clipped. The barking is only when he hears someone approach my apartment door or if someone comes in that he doesn’t know. I’m working on desensitizing him to the latter. He DOES make noises like the dog in the videos below make & he grooms himself quite a bit. He DOES NOT play with toys. Don’t know if that’s breed specific or just Jack! He also isn’t too active; he’d be happy to sit on my lap or with his face in my arm pit all day!
Basenji? Mixed with?

My rescue puppy is so Basenji, don't you you think?
We are in Australia, so most people assume she is part dingo. They are similar breeds, but her for is silky and she does a little growl everything now and then.
Any clues on what she might be mixed with?Thanks, Fi

How tall at shoulder and what does she weigh. Honestly she looks very basenji to me!
-
She is approx. 43cm at shoulder and 15 kg.
-
That's a bit heavy for most Basenjis, but not for a mix. Of course the only way to be sure is to do a DNA test.
-
Certainly has the look of a Basenji. Agree with Debra, seems a bit heavy but doesn't really look it.
-
I don’t know if you’ll see this but I was searching the web to see what breed my dog is and they look like twins. Did you ever find out?
I’m trying to post a pic but it won’t let me

Your picture may be too large a file. Try downsizing it and see if that works.

Hi there, just wondering if you ever found out what you basenji is crossed with because she's the spitting image of ours (Indy is a rescue from Melbourne). I can't work out how to add a picture!

@ficamaj
Your baby is very cute - looks part Basenji to me! Congratulations on your new pup! -
Also I feel like I can also make our black doors on your dog's skin under the fir, is spotty skin a basenji thing as Indy has it (not a skin condition just the colouring if her skin). Really wish I could upload a pic!

Our dogs could be twins! I've been searching for what she might be, and I came to the conclusion that she, like yours, looks most like a Basenji/Dingo mix (though here in the states they're called Carolina Dogs, not Dingos).
-
@akretschmer14 she looks like mine, too!
Our girl has a little bit of black fur on her back.
-
@bejoylee I don't see Carolina Dog in your girl, but she sure does favor a German Shepard!

@bejoylee
