I am in Big Spring, Texas and looking for a Basenji puppy to be a part of our family. Please send me a message if you have one. We will consider a well manner young adult. We had a great dog from an animal shelter for several years, but our child really wanted to play catch with him and he was afraid of anything flying through the air (from abuse before we had him) so if it is not a puppy we would like he/she to enjoy fetching.

www.basenji.org you can search for breeders by state. There is also a link on how to "vet" breeders, question you should ask. https://www.basenji.org/learn/ScreeningBreeders.htm
Also check out health testing yourself. You need to have the registration numbers and/or registration name and you can check at www.ofa.org

Thanks for the info. I'll check those sites out. I prefer a puppy but willing to take one up to 2 years old. Sounds like I'll have to wait till winter.

@Buddys-Pal Keep in mind that there was no Fanconi test in '05. The linkage test came out in '07....

HOWEVER, there is no reason to ever again produce Fanconi in Basenjis... There is a direct DNA test and as Buddys-Pal pointed out, look for the test results yourself, they are public at www.offa.org
