    I am in Big Spring, Texas and looking for a Basenji puppy to be a part of our family. Please send me a message if you have one. We will consider a well manner young adult. We had a great dog from an animal shelter for several years, but our child really wanted to play catch with him and he was afraid of anything flying through the air (from abuse before we had him) so if it is not a puppy we would like he/she to enjoy fetching.

    Hi there, Funny enough, my guy is from a breeder in Pembroke - just down the road from Ottawa! They've had litters on and off over the years, but I'm not sure whether they're active at the moment (last I heard, one of the moms was in a "false heat" and they might try again with her in the summer). In any event, it's easiest to politely contact whatever active breeders you can find in Ont/QC, and I find they're very nice and often able to refer you to others should their bookings be full. That's how I did it. Best of luck!!

    I just found out about Tucson last week nd this week we have company from out of town otherwise we would have gone. I will be checking with the two breeders I've found in the Scottsdale/Phoenix area. I'll keep looking for a rescue. Thx

    @debradownsouth - Correct Debra, many breeders will say that and there is really nothing to stop them. However check out Sally's pedigree sight the only ones that are noted with the DNA results for Fanconi or PRA are the ones that were tested by OFA, not any of the ones noted as clear by parents. There is really nothing wrong with saying clear by parents but each breeder makes their own decision about this. For me, I would prefer to test.

    Glad you got your dog! I looked for a thread on her but didn't see it. Please be sure to get her Fanconi tested (NOT the strip tests, but the actual Fanconi DNA test) as soon as possible if she is not already tested. BRAT strip tests but does not DNA and sometimes people get confused and think a clear strop means no Fanconi. Only by doing the DNA will you know.
